For those of you that hate influencers :lol:

Nice!

At the beach this week, boarded my dog at the vet. Vet called today, routine blood work indicated she has some type of bleed internally, recommend an ultrasound. Called a few minutes ago, she has a softball size mass in her spleen. Nothing they can do, could be days, could be months. Now I’m going to spend the rest of the trip praying she at least makes it until we get home.

Sorry brother.

Thanks man. She’s a great dog, just can’t wrap my head around the fact that she’s going to be gone soon. Here’s a pic that the vet sent to us today to show that, for now at least, she’s doing okay.

   Aww, she looks like a sweet dog.

Got home from the beach early afternoonish yesterday, the old girl seemed fine.  Ate, hung around everyone like she normally does.  Woke up around 6:30am this morning to her panting heavily. Tried to get her up to go outside and her head was tilting to the left and she kept falling in that direction.  Carried her out into the yard and she kept staggering to the left.  Carried her back in and got the kids up to say goodbye.  The vet told us that was likely to happen then continually get worse as she bleeds out internally.  Instead of getting worse though, she seemed to get a little better.  She ate, went outside to do her business, followed us around whenever we went anywhere.  One thing we did notice though was that when she was up walking around her gums would get as white as her teeth, but when she was lying still she would get some color back in them.  An indication that when she was laying down the tumor would clot, but when she got up to move around she would start bleeding internally again.  Knowing that she was going to gradually get worse until she was suddenly in agony, struggling just to breathe, we made the call to have her put down around lunch time. Our vet isn't open on weekends so we had to take her to an afterhours emergency vet.  We could tell that, even though we brought the paperwork from our vet with her recommendation, they were questioning our decision (she seemed fine when we took her in) because when they brought her back out with the IV in she had jelly on her underside from where they did their own ultrasound.  They didn't charge us for it, and never told us that they did it, but they came out ready to euthanize her which tells us that they saw the tumor and likely the bleeding so it does help knowing that we did do the right thing.  Now I have to fight the habitual urges.  The urge to go feed her, the urge to get up to let her out, the urge to do all of the things that have become habit over the last 11 years.  I know that my wife's looking at a new dog to replace her dog that we lost last year, but I'm done with dogs, for a while anyway.  They just don't live long enough and I can't keep going through this.

I said I would never do another one after the one pictured....... I cannot begin to tell everyone what a wonderful dog she was. However I've done it twice more....... Each time knowing that I will be going through this again is pure effin hell.

I shed my tears for you and was reminded for the one pictured.

 @The_Omega...... it freakin sucks.

Sorry for your loss.

Omega it takes time, it was Chickie who found the time & dog to teach me how to properly mourn Jack (you remember Jack, my dog Jack) and I am filled with joy again.

Now Kelcey lays by my side and Jack runs around on the biggest Eagles home field there is.

I hope your's finds Jack.

These two are a year apart.....

Again I said I was done..... they were rescue pups..... glad I did it.

Both are daddy's girls and bring me as much joy as my baby girl did for 12 years.

As much joy..... but different. They have their own personalitites and have trained me. When I am out on the road for work.... I can't wait to get home to be with them.

Watching my "ol' girl" Frankie literally help train my new pup Doug is almost making me weep in happiness lol.

It's crazy how smart Frankie is, she's barely three and it's almost like she understands english.
