Feels like the Eagles have a lot of developing talent at the TE position. They’re getting some valuable time while Goedert is out. Calcetera has a smooth style of play. Feels like if he could overcome his injury past he could become a great additional pass catching player for the Eagles. I know they still like Jackson also, but he’s clearly raw. Stoll also has just steadily improved. He’s a great blocker and he making catches now also. There’s a chance this offense could be even better next season.

They have depth at the offensive skill positions to the point where we don't have to panic at an injury.  

So this is really starting to look like a real strength for this team. Stoll is showing to be a solid blocker and a decent pass catcher. Jackson is still a work in progress, but Grant C really looks like he’s a pass catcher in the making. He’s also become a willing blocker, but I am concerned with his injury history. Of course we have Goedert who is a top guy. The Eagles look to be in a good spot here.

I’m pleasantly surprised to see that they’ve adjusted because it looked bad at first.  Excellent organizational response, as has been the case all season.

Idk how the Eagles are surviving without a legit TE2

This is a great coaching staff that is clearly working to develop their young players and finding ways to turn back the clock on some of these older guys too.

I also saw Calceterra make some nice blocks. He’s my bet to become TE #2.

I’m not sure our back-ups are a strength at this point, but the playing time they are getting with Goedert out could give us a solid #2 and #3 by next year.

We don’t have Celek/Burton/Ertz quite yet, but we have a nice group here.

#81 can play.  Looks like a find.

Stoll and Calcetera have both played well in relief.

I've been impressed with how Calcetera has really grown in to his role. He seems to understand he can't just be a pass catcher he's got to go out there and block a little.

Before his injuries he was considered a very high prospect. Then he gave up football. It’s always a risk, but if he can stay healthy he’s a real find.

Yeah I think if he can add a little size and just work on his blocking then yeah he's got a real chance.

We have been pretty blessed with the TE turnover. Lewis, Celek, Ertz, Goedert. Yes injuries suck but this injury did help the team evaluate what we have.

Looks like Goedert is back and I’d say the backups really held their own in his stead. 

I like where we are at TE.  The silver lining of Goedert's injury is that it gave the other guys the opportunity to step up - to play, to gain experience, to learn.  Stoll isn't just an "ok" blocker.  He's become a good one.  GC has grown too.  It's much better now that Goedert is coming back.  You can't lose a top-3 player at any position and not have a drop-off.  But I feel better about the other guys too.

God-dert is back.  We're good there.

For some reason, the Eagles don't want to run the ball and without Goedert, they don't have a tight end to target a half dozen times a game.  Teams are going to continue to key on AJ and DeVonta .  Something has to give.

He did run nineteen routes that game, but he was open at other times however he is more of a blocking TE than Grant and Dallas.
I was disappointed that Grant didn't catch that touchdown, but if Dallas doesn't play against Chicago it'll only give them more play time prior to the Post Season.
      I expect that the Eagles will defeat both the Chicago Bears and Dallas Cowboys in the next two weeks securing home field advantage throughout the playoffs and the bye week. Leaving HC Nick with most likely benching a lot of starters in the last two games, that will give them more play time.

     I would ask you which teams have better TE backups in the NFL right now?  When you factor in all the offensive weapons that Jalen Hurts has on this team having quality depth at every position is a luxury most NFL teams do not have right now.

Yeah this is from a month ago when they looked lost at the position.  Since then, they've done a good - not great - job adjusting and I later gave them credit for that.  Goedert is likely back this week so the whole argument is academic.

This was the point I was trying to make in the OP.  One of them, anyway.  Part of the Eagles offensive success over the past couple of decades has been continuity at the TE position, going back to Chad Lewis and LJ Smith, the guys you mentioned, and now Goedert.  That, however, is where the question lies going forward.

I don’t know about "great” but they need a second receiving option on their roster.  Tight ends not named Goedert have caught a total of 15 passes this season for (checks notes) zero touchdowns.  Combined.
