Tight ends not named Goedert have caught a total of 15 passes this season for (checks notes) zero touchdowns. Combined. You are describing the problem, not the solution. You have complained that the solution they implemented was good but not great. What solution do you believe would have been great? Don’t duck the question. Give us an actual solution that you realistically believe is a great one.
December 18, 20223 yr Author I would have liked them to prioritize the position after they dumped Ertz, either through the draft or free agency. But they didn’t, so when Goedert went down, they had painted themselves into a corner at a critical position. If you can't see that I don't know what to tell you.

They have a great WR combo in Brown and Smith, a top 3 TE in Goedert and you...were expecting more from backup TEs? Teams typically have 3 top receiving targets. Earlier in this topic I showed several other teams that have 3 receiving options that get the bulk of the catches. The rest for any team are going to get scraps. 3 hours ago, Hawkeye said: I would have liked them to prioritize the position after they dumped Ertz, either through the draft or free agency. They invested in upgrading WR the last 2 seasons and beefed up the defense. They're 13-1 as a result, and your'e complaining that they backup TEs don't produce more? AJ has a 1,000 yard season. Smitty had another 100 yard game today and might get close to 1,000 yards as well. Yeah, the backup TEs aren't going to light it up. There have been games where Goedert didn't do much either. A couple 2 or 3 catch games.
December 19, 20223 yr Each week there is more evidence of how important the TE is to this offense. When we had Goedert in there the offense just flows and feels unstoppable, without him everything just feels more awkward and inconsistent.

Why don't you flow back to the last few weeks and see how the offense dominated instead of making idiotic posts

He wanted to be traded and they obliged him. They thought they were doing him a favor by sending him to a contender. As far as prioritizing whatever do you mean? They have basically done more now than they did when they won the bowl. They drafted a guy in Grant C, had Goedert who’s a stud, and they made Stoll a priority rookie free agent. In 2017 Celek was basically at the end of his career, Ertz was a stud, and Burton was a rookie FA. Not sure what else you want here and on top of that our receiver group needed a major overhaul. That was a way bigger priority.

Pascal or Watkins could at least approximate some of the production and would get balls thrown their way. The Eagles literally ignored the tight ends yesterday and damn near lost the game. What are they doing with the 6 targets a game Goedert was averaging? They're obviously not going to run the ball. You are once again describing the problem without explaining what that "something” is that you have clearly said they "need to do.” Going back to the last offseason doesn’t address what you have clearly stated is a NOW problem. What second receiving option would you add to this roster that would fix the problem? You seem to be allergic to providing any names. BTW, in the 2023 offseason they did exactly what you have suggested … they drafted a pass-catching TE.
December 23, 20223 yr In training camp, the Eagles had Goedert and a bunch of young TEs they were high on. As predicted, Jackson went to the PUP list while rehabbing, Stoll beat out Togiai and Calcaterra impressed enough to get rid of Rodgers. This isn't the Doug Pederson Eagles and we won't have the TE group leading the team in targets. I think some people panicked a bit early when Goedert was hurt. We still had Brown and Smith to throw to so Hurts wasn't really looking at the TE as much. Our backups are still young and should steadily improve. They can make plays when given a chance.
