Bengals have a tough schedule ahead, and may not win the division cause the Ravens have a cupcake schedule ahead. If the Bengals can’t win their division, I think it removes Burrow from the MVP talk

Agreed.  But they currently have won 5 straight without JaMarr Chase ( including the Chiefs win )

If they push that to 8 straight with wins @TB, @NE and v Buffalo, he is right there in the race.

the obsession over a topic that most say doesn't matter is an awesome paradox. you're all cvon psoters who just haven't come to grips with it yet.

Theres not enough respect for Grace Charis as golfs #2 beauty.

And not enough pics of Andreea Dragoi. With a larger collection of work, she may one day topple Paige Spirinac off the queen throne of sports icons.

And Mikayla Demaiter

Just listening to Anthony Munoz on ESPN radio on the way to work.  A reasonable opinion that more folks need to take.

He said Mahomes and Hurts both have the resume to be MVP, but did not definitively call one the MVP.  Also said with a win against Buffalo on Monday night football January 2nd, Burrow has the resume as well with wins over Mahomes and Allen.

He is 100% correct, and anyone outright declaring Hurts the MVP and not able to have a discussion about other candidates is a Hurts fan boy.

I've maintained I feel Hurts passed Mahomes over the past two weeks, but it's still real close. Just like us as fans, the voters each have their own criteria they use. And like you alluded to, most are saying it's between these two, but a third guy could move up, four games is a lot.

Also, they are using a new voting system this year, right? That makes it a lot harder to predict IMO.

Also, it's Friday and we just blew out two teams. There's not a lot to debate about concerning this team, which is probably why the MVP topic is being discussed.

The 49ers are the new media darlings now - and Brock Purdy is the next Tom Brady.  Get with the program people.

This.  In previous years, a voter might have felt like he would get some backlash for voting for Brady over Jackson when they only had 1 vote.

I would be curious to see the voting if they selected a top 5, and how many of the guys that voted for Jackson, may have voted Brady 1 and Jackson 2.

Not really. It makes it harder to predict runner ups. I don't think it's going to make a difference at all for the winner.

Him and Hurts can fight it out next season, Brock going for his first MVP with Jalen defending it.

Not sure I agree with that. Will they show everyone's 1,2,3....votes after?

Pretty sure. They vote 1 through 5 and there's some weighted system behind it.

Maybe I can buy @downundermike theory about having more votes they may vote someone else #1 that they wouldn't if they only had 1 vote. But the basic premise is going to stay the same. Whoever gets the most #1 votes is going to win.

Not necessarily.  A crude example

Player X - 10 1st, 3 2nd, 8 3rd

Player Y - 9 1st, 8 2nd, 2 3rd

Not sure how they are weighted, but in this scenario, Player Y could win.

That's what I was thinking. It adds more variables which should make predictions more difficult, no?

Agreed.  It is just amusing to me that if you make a case for anyone else you hate Hurts.  Mahomes has a legitimate case if he is the #1 seed in a much tougher AFC, while setting the single season passing record and single season total yardage record.

Burrow has a case if he is the #1 seed in a much tougher AFC, with wins over Mahomes and Allen, without his #1 WR for 5 weeks ( including beating KC without him )

I think most fans don't care about these type of awards, it's just something to talk about. If your QB is in the hunt, your team is also probably going to be in the Superbowl discussion, so it's a good thing.

Rob Maaddi said the way the weighting system is shouldn't have much of an effect on who wins it. The purpose is to get other players, including non QB's to get more recognition.

Head over to the blog.  Some people really care, and seem to be very offended to mention anyone else has a shot besides Hurts.

I've seen similar reactions to the flipside of the discussion.
