Week 17 Discussion

Week 17 starts with a TNF game tonight between the Cowboys and Titans. Derrick Henry is doubtful for Tennessee. A Cowboys loss gives the Eagles the NFC East Division.

Still waiting on if Minshew or Hurts will be playing for the Eagles who are home against the Saints. A Eagles win gets them the 1 seed and division.

Both the Cardinals and Falcons are out of playoff contention. Arizona is in Atlanta. J.J. Watt announced this week he is retiring at the end of the year.

An NFC North battle in Detroit between the Bears and Lions. The Lions are on the outside looking in. The Lions need to win out, 1 more loss for Washington and 1 more loss for Seattle.

Denver will be playing Kansas City without Hackett who was fired this week. The Chiefs can get the 1 seed with wins in their last 2 games AND at least one Bills loss.

Losers of 4 straight, Miami goes to New England. The Dolphins clinch a playoff berth with a win OR tie and a Steelers loss.

The Colts will have Nick Foles at QB again as they play the Giants at MetLife. A Giants win gets them in the playoffs.

The NFC South is still up for grabs except for Atlanta. Carolina plays the Bucs in Tampa. A win for Tampa gets them the division title.

Cleveland plays Washington with Wentz back at QB. Washington can clinch a playoff spot with a Win + Seattle loss + Detroit loss + Green Bay loss.

Still in playoff contention are the Jags who play the Texans in Houston.

Scenario 1: Win vs. Houston Texans in Week 17, Win vs. Tennessee Titans in Week 18

Outcome: Win AFC South, No. 4 seed

Scenario 2: Lose/Tie vs. Houston Texans in Week 17, Win vs. Tennessee Titans in Week 18

Outcome: Win AFC South, No. 4 seed.

Scenario 3: Win Houston Texans in Week 17, Tie vs. Tennessee Titans in Week 18

Outcome: Win AFC South, No. 4 seed.

Scenario 4: Win vs. Houston Texans in Week 17, Lose vs. Tennessee Titans in Week 18

Outcome: No. 7 seed ... with a lot of help.

here is how the Jaguars can win a wild-card spot.

Week 17 losses by Miami Dolphins, New York Jets

Week 18 losses by Miami Dolphins, New England Patriots

A Week 17 OR Week 18 loss by Pittsburgh Steelers

In short, the Jaguars will need to root for teams such as the Seattle Seahawks, New York Jets, New England Patriots, Baltimore Ravens, Buffalo Bills, and Cleveland Browns.

So, needing five games to go the Jaguars' way over the next two weeks isn't ideal.

Niners go to LA and play the Raiders. LA must win their last 2 games to make the playoffs with a lot of things to go their way. They will need Miami to lose their next 2. The Jets to lose week 17 but win week 18. The Patriots to win week 17 and lose week 18. The Settlers to lose 1 of their next 2 and finally the Titans to win week 17 and lose week 18.

The 7-8 Jets play the 7-8 Seahawks from Seattle. If the Jets win their final two games of the regular season, and the Patriots lose one of their last two games, New York is in. Seattle needs to win out and have Washington lose one game to either Cleveland or Dallas at home and Green Bay lose one of its final two games to Minnesota or Detroit to make the playoffs.

A big game for Green Bay as they are home to play the Vikings. The Packers will advance if they win out in home games against NFC North foes Minnesota and Detroit while Washington loses at least once or the Giants lose twice.

The Rams are considered the road team for this one as the Rams play the Chargers in both teams home stadium. The Chargers clinched a playoff spot last week.

SNF between the Steelers and Ravens from Baltimore. The Ravens have clinched a playoff berth.

For the Steelers to make the playoffs, three things must happen, in no particular order:

Pittsburgh must win their final two games against the Baltimore Ravens and Cleveland Browns.

Miami Dolphins must lose out or lose and tie once.

Jets and Dolphins must lose at least once, but not to the Dolphins.

MNF between the Bills and Bengals. Bills who already AFC East Champs get the 1 seed with a Win AND a KC loss.

Got that everyone? This is when football is fun.

Cowboys are screwed next year when they lose Pollard and are stuck with a broken down Elliot

He just threw it up praying for that pi. Worst thing would have been an interception which would have been like a punt

The Titans will lose due to a combination of drops and sheety coaching. Why would you not go for 2 and make it a 3 point game? No difference between a 4 and 5 point game

The amount of 49ers fans at the Raiders game/stadium is staggering.

A lot of Vikings fans at the GB game as well.

Eagles lost. That’s all that really matters. The epic collapse continued for another week 👎

The only other time a player died on the field they finished the game.  (Bears-Lions in '71)

I think they would continue tomorrow, at best.

Yeah, unfortunately this is an important game for the AFC, it has to be finished

I agree.  I wouldn’t put it past any of these two teams to agree to not play and take whatever consequences come of it (record wise).

If Bengals win they get 1 seed, can't see them giving that up

I wasn't watching the game, but just saw the news report. I hope it's one of those things that's really serious in the moment, but tomorrow he walks out of the hospital with smiles and it's all good to go.

Bengals still have one more loss than Chiefs.
