She already knows about the hooker you nailed. That's what started this whole mess.

Nah, you being lowlife JT is what started it.  Pointing out your inane shitposting being my new favorite pastime as a result is a happy accident, lefty lynched.

Model S Plaid does 0-60 in 1.99 seconds out of the box.  Over 1000 hp.

Apparently it doesn't brake so hot tho.

Yup,  and you can modify them (and break your warranty) to go faster.

No arguments here.  Big reason we are keeping our Explorer for the near future.  Give the size (for all the baby s***) and gas tank, it's our long distance car.

I hope you enjoy it. Electric just isn’t for me right now. If they ever get to solid state batteries maybe.

I think they are still a bit away. Which sucks for them, because this would have been the time for EVs to capitalize on the market and utilize the publicity of the gas prices.

Much like transporting fuel, the weight of the liquid state of batteries is causing a lot of the energy burn.  Getting a lighter solid state battery with the same amount of storage will do wonders for the range.

And supposedly it charges faster.

When are you supposed to find time for coffee?

"For example, about half of U.S. vehicles lack a reserved off-street parking space at an owned residence where a charger could be installed. Adoption may be more difficult for renters as well as for residents of dense cities who already struggle with parking logistics and aren’t enthusiastic about adding charging logistics to their daily tasks."

The final prepositional phrase, "where a charger could be installed.",  is where you are tripping up a tad.  If it was just that about half lack off street parking then I would agree with the sentiment.

But like I mentioned prior, my lesbian next door neighbors literally were renting a townhouse with no dedicated charger.  They owned 2 EV's and just trickle charged them via an extension cord.  I imagine they made this work due to a few factors:

1) Their commute to\from work wasn't exorbitant.

2) They likely used public chargers to make of the gap from time to time. You know, like getting a cup of coffee or parking  in a parking garage with dedicated EV chargers when they go to dinner.  A perfect example for their situation is this one.  Its in a garage (free after 5) that is located right next to multiple restaurants.

Yes.  If you are in a situation where you cannot install a dedicated charger, such as a townhouse rental that you brought up, its not ideal.  But the fact is, it can be done. So a stat like roughly half the people are in a situation where they cant install one on their off street parking is a hinderance but does not eliminate the option.

I agree it can be done. I disagree that the masses would want to do it. If I'm right than the market because much, much smaller. People don't buy things they don't want lol.

It's a bit away. IMO.

Also, I think the part you maybe are misinterpreting is I don't think there is a place for them. There definitely is. If I was still driving 50 miles each way to work I'd probably have one now. And I wouldnt be be surprised if one was in my garage five or so years from today depending on advancements (I hate stopping for gas). That's was not what my initial post or thoughts on this subject were. If a decade from now you could more easily and efficiently charge them and get 300+ miles out of them (on a reasonable charge time at home) for an inflation adjusted 30ish grand or so (starting point) I think they would become more common for Bob the forklift driver.

You definitely lost me with the stopping on the way home to charge for 10 minutes thing. I can't reasonably see someone signing uo for that. The technicality that someone could afford it is meaningless if that someone doesn't want it.

And to add, availability for many models is touch and go. Joe may not have 6 weeks to wait for it to be delivered if his 9 year old beater is barely holding on. These are real issues facing the 86,000 a year median income families. He's gonna just buy a Sentra.

Let me rephrase\clarify.  I wasn't saying that is an every day thing.  I was saying finding a level 3 charger to make up the difference from time to time.  So if you have a range of 250 and you use (keep it simple, and make up some numbers) 50 a day but can only charge 40, maybe once every two weeks when you are down to 110, you hit it up.

Got it. Too bad the poors won't get that feature in the models targeted for their price range.
