A bit OT, but every time I hear about folks being bitten by a rabid animal, I think back to this decade old article.  TL;DR: This girl was too far gone with rabies for conventional treatment, so a doctor came up with an experimental treatment to try to cure her:  Put her in a coma, regulate her temp and give her a cocktail of drugs so the body could fight the disease without killing her.

And with a fatality rate of 99%, my guess is if they were to get bit, suddenly all their reservations about microchips, big pharma profiteering, objection to fetal cells, etc would all melt away. Maybe they'd also be less inclined to take an anti-parasitic for a virus that kills virtually all unvaccinated hosts.
