July 20, 20223 yr It's great when "a good guy with a gun" stops a shooting. Unfortunately it only happens 5% of the time. I'm not against gun ownership, though I think a more balanced gun control policy would probably help. But while it's great to see instances where someone stepped up and defended innocents, statistically speaking it's an outlier.

I think before we institute new gun laws, we ought to enforce the ones on the books. It's no secret that some of the strictest gun law cities/areas have the worst gun crime rates, not so coincidentally, those areas also have been soft on criminals who are convicted of crimes involving guns and voilence. If we actually enforced those laws with stiffer penalties, sure more people would go to jail, but less shootings would occur. But hey thats just me looking at the reality of the situation.
