I think before we institute new gun laws, we ought to enforce the ones on the books. It's no secret that some of the strictest gun law cities/areas have the worst gun crime rates, not so coincidentally, those areas also have been soft on criminals who are convicted of crimes involving guns and voilence. But hey thats just me looking at the reality of the situation. 

Did you miss the whole "tough on crime" period of our history? No doubt that DAs in many cities have swung far too much the other way, but overly aggressive "broken window" enforcement turned the US into a high incarceration state. Clearly that doesn't work either.

Are you sure about that? Seems like gun crime rates have risen since we started being softer on crime. 

 

Example from Chicago - as we get softer on crime, crime goes up. Nah say it isn't so....
