Horrible year for the Safety spot unless we draft Branch at 30 ... and even Branch didn't really play traditional Safety ... he played way more as a slot Corner at Bama, but his excellent abilities as a tackler makes him a better fit at Safety than anywhere else.

I wish I could remember where I read this, but I remember reading an article that implied that the talent drop off after the potential first 2 round prospects was significant in this draft...any thoughts on if this might be true?

Overall I'd say this is a weak draft ... and I've been following the draft for over 30 years as a complete college junkie.

Well we technically didn't select at 10 after all 😂 with that trade up from 10 to 9. I thought it was silly at first, but I guess there probably were multiple teams in the mix considering a potential trade up to 9 for Jalen Carter.

Off the field concerns aside, Carter is arguably the best player in the draft, so to get him at 9 it's worth the gamble with our strong veteran leadership in the locker room and re-uniting him with his Georgia teammates.

this could explain why Howie actually used both 1st rounders...I think we all expected him to trade the #30 pick since they have nothing in rounds 4-6...if this draft is top heavy, use your picks in the early rounds

That would make sense.

A top heavy draft class makes that 3rd round swap even sweeter.
