The best way to dig out of that hole (as I see it) and be competitive as quickly as possible is load up on picks. Especially 2022 ones since scouting will get back to normal, hopefully. if smith fell to us, great. If we trade with Chicago and end up with 3, potentially 4, first rounders next year, also great. Either way you don’t give Dallas another dart to throw when you KNOW they are going defense You need some of my beer
April 30, 20214 yr Also did give Giants Smith. This is a 15 guy draft and then drop off so won that battle.
April 30, 20214 yr I'm good with the trade-up and Smith pick. It wasn't Kwity Paye or some equally stupid pick like that. What a relief.

I just see it as a crap shoot and the more picks the better. Better chance at cheap young talent. The R words threw us a 5th for Trash, and that turned into Trent Cole. We could just as well blow that 3rd. But I’d rather be the one throwing that dart than Dallas

Or Watson likes Smith as a WR and lifts trade veto power to Eagles. Howie would have pulled a Raiders
April 30, 20214 yr Not what I was hoping for, but I can't be mad at it. I was screaming at the TV when Denver was on the clock for Howie to go get Surtain. Legit had no clue at all Denver was interested in him. If they're going to make a move up back into the 1st, I hope it's for Newsome. Don't want any piece of Farley.
April 30, 20214 yr I’m pleased, wish they didn’t have to move up but better than moving back because they missed their guy Smith and a 1st rounder for a first and a third

I bashed him for trading out of 6 early. But he nailed it. Turned assets into more assets and still got one of the guys they wanted, while also screwing over the giants. Yeah dallas got 84, but so what. Small price to pay. If smith is what he's supposed to be, it won't matter. We don't need 4 firsts next year. We needed talent now. We still have a ton of draft capital to move around on day 2 to target someone at the top of round 2/3.
April 30, 20214 yr Author I'll also say I thought they would trade up to 9 for surtain. Once denver said naw dawg, we're taking him. Dallas was SOL. We needed to leapfrog the Giants. Cowboys got parsons anyway. Giants got boned. Lol. Kadarius toney.

We have a TON of holes and having 4 firsts goes a long way to plugging them up. F it. Trade Cox and our 3rd for a 2022 1st and a 2022 3rd. Trade Ertz and our 2nd for a 2022 1st. Let’s do this!

I totally agree this is an evaluation year and we don't need to sell the farm to win now. But he hasn't done that. He gained picks and still added a potential stud. We have more picks than any other franchise through next year I believe. I didn't love smith originally. The more I watch comparison tape on his route running, the more I like him.
April 30, 20214 yr TRADE EVERYONEZ! MOAR PICKZ! (Seriously, if we processed this bad boy, I’d be excited. "And the Eagles drafted 18 players in 2022, including 5 first rounders and 3 second rounders”. )
April 30, 20214 yr Chickie just sent me this; okay i feel 100000% better with the smith pick now. It's worth it because of what it did. Quote https://twitter.com/Eric_Emanuele/status/1388088633589211137?s=01 Chickie: This is my breakfast today.
April 30, 20214 yr edited to make him look skinnier than a f'n twig. actually...it's not edited. he is skinnier than a f'n twig!!!
April 30, 20214 yr word is that howie has his eye on this little known OT prospect out of Cal Tech as a possible day 2 pick.
