One of the first things you learn in USA youth football coaching certification is not to put kids that age that far apart for a heads up tackling drill. You're trying to teach them proper form which is not going to happen with high speed collisions. As they get older sure, back them off. We put them like 1-2 yards apart and that's after doing a thud type drill where we freeze them and correct their form. Kids that age are inclined to tackle high, which leads to that.

Is that how the extra game is decided? You play the team that finished in the same position as you in the opposite conference? (AFC/NFC east)

(AFC/NFC east) Yes, the team is based on previous season finish, and I believe I heard they picked the specific division matchups based on the opposite conference games that were played two years ago. In 2019, that was the AFCE for us. And it’ll rotate divisions going forward so in 2022, we’ll play the same place finisher in the AFCN.

Will still rotate NFC and AFC 4-team divisions. And in matching the same-seed finish for the other 2 NFC divisions, matching the 17th game with rotating AFC division and same-seed team. Adds 17th game but nobody is playing a conference team so that W/L result (other than overall seed) shouldn’t be a deciding factor in playoff position if say, two teams in conference finish the year 9-7
May 15, 20214 yr Maybe was discussed in TATE (I don’t go over there) but this dude on Bill Simmons podcast was talking about how eagles have 4 games in 17 days (with the two Super Bowl teams making up 50% of that) and follow it up with 5 out of 7 games on the road

The other team he mentioned was Indy, who has had 14 prime time games over the past X years (I think he said approx 3 a season) and of those 14 they were 2 home and 12 on the road. This year Indy has 3 with 2 on the road
