You can be a terrible quarterback even if you have arm strength.. accuracy, decision making, timing etc. are all important.  But can you really be a great QB if you don't have it?

Like I said last night.. this refusal to run the football has been a theme through multiple coaching staffs.  It feels like Nick was hired to do things a "certain way" and he's too young and inexperienced to argue with the top.  How much of this is about making Howie's sheety draft picks look decent?

Drew Brees says yes.

You still need to be able to push the ball down the field to keep the defense honest. 7 starts isn't a huge sample size, but with what we've seen so far he hasn't shown the ability to make those throws.

The Dolphins are in the exact same boat with Tua

I also have concerns with his arm strength and his ability to make the long bombs down the field as those passes seem to be consistently short. That said though, I think he has enough arm strength to keep defenses honest and open up the field. You don’t need to heave the ball 60 yards to do that. What he needs is pinpoint accuracy and great decision making and timing with his targets as well as when to break the pocket and run for what he can get. I view him as needing to be a Drew Brees light to be successful in this league. Not impossible, but there is very little margin for error. Week 1 was very encouraging, but outside of that game I haven’t really seen it. He is young and needs some time to show what he’s capable of becoming in my opinion. I have my doubts, but not ready to write him off just yet.

I thought the playcalling has been downright pitiful these last two games.

Hurts feels like one of those QBs that flounders early in his career, his team moves on and he becomes a pro bowler 3 years later....

Brees had ridiculous accuracy and IQ to make up for what he lost with the shoulder surgery. I still feel even after surgery he had a better deep ball than Hurts. They also catered to him by getting big body receivers that could make contested catches and not fast small guys to stretch the field. Thomas is 6'3" and Colston was 6'4". Plus he had elite receiving backs in Sproles, Bush and Kamara.

Agreed on all counts, but Brees didn’t have a particularly strong arm even before his surgery. I’m not saying that Hurts will be as good as Brees or even good at all, just that I’m not going to write him off just because of apparent poor arm strength.

Fair enough. I thought he looked amazing week 1 and if somewhere down the line he can bring that week in week out he will be a good player. Performances like that may be enough for this team to win another championship. However it's never as good as it seems and it's never as bad as it seems.

You think the Chiefs will go 1-3? Yeah, not happening

I would argue that Brad Goebel is the last truly great Eagles QB.

What the heck. Had a few takers so I’m hosting today.  First one in a long time and no Mr Di.  Have a great afternoon everyone!

Defense sucks, but we all knew that was coming.

Just not enough talent, but Dolphins also lost today! Two top 10 picks please and a back four heavy draft

Baby girl needs to be changed? Sure, I’m on it. Take her upstairs, feed her, hold her up and put her down for a nap?  No problem

Anything is better than watching this team.

When I said I wanted us to shed as much cap as possible (like trade cox, not optioning Barnett, etc), and focus on getting 2022 picks + freeing up long term cap space, this is why.  This team is shallow with little talent.

I’ll be asleep by 8:15.  Book it.  That’s a bet you are sure to win.

Who's everyone's favorite pair of announcers?

I think Michaels/Collinsworth are the best pair of announcers.

And Tirico will take over for Michaels soon,  who is also good.

Looking at the remaining schedule, I'm not sure I see 5 wins.

So many mental mistakes. They had opportunities, penalties killed them and the fact the defense were torched pretty much every possession

Isn't Howie still making the picks?  Why get excited for picks?

Smith, Gainwell, and are all playing from last year draft last along with Dickerson, Milton Williams and McPherson.

And draft is loaded with kids Eagles need.

Eagles should have 3 picks in the top 15. I'm all in on trading one of those and add to the 2023 draft
