September 25, 20223 yr Is anyone else kind of hoping our offense has some shorter drives (time wise not necessarily yardage wise) so that our defense has more chances to pummel Wertz in the second half?
September 25, 20223 yr All the Hurts haters in TATE are starting to fall all over themselves - it’s hilarious

September 25, 20223 yr Don’t lose to the Jags we won’t implode. Good win. We’re 3-0 enjoy it. Watching coach presser and he used the words dog mentality! Woot! Chicken was bangin.

September 26, 20223 yr Quote Commanders' Jason Wright talks ticket sales, sponsorship Commanders President Jason Wright said that the team’s sponsorship and ticket sales "are up, its rebranding has gone better than he anticipated and he will continue to weigh in on social media,” according to Nicki Jhabvala of the WASHINGTON POST. Wright said that the team has "already sold more tickets for this season than it did during the whole of its 2021 campaign.” Wright: "We couldn’t be happier with the progress that’s been made. We feel like we’re maxing out.” He "declined to provide specific numbers on suite and ticket sales." But he said that the Commanders’ overall "renewal rate on season tickets is up" 15% and the "renewal rate on suites is up" almost 30%. Overall sponsorship was another area Wright "claimed the team has improved significantly,” even as Anheuser-Busch did not renew its beer sponsorship this year, and a naming rights deal with Inova for the Commanders' training facility in Ashburn, Va., expired. Wright: "We’re up in categories, total, year over year. We’re projecting to be up double digits in overall sponsorship. It’ll be our highest sponsorship [revenue] total since 2005.” Some of the team’s continued rebranding includes the unveiling of its "revamped fight song” on Saturday and "fan voting for a new mascot, which will be revealed early next year" (WASHINGTON POST, 8/14). Other BS spewed: Spoiler BEING EMPOWERED: Wright said that the turnaround in the organization's HR department has been "so dramatic he's been asked to consult with other NFL teams.” Wright: "Folks at the league are asking me to onboard team presidents on other teams, to help them understand how to establish organizational health and culture, and a proper HR organization, and policies and procedures. I'm spending an inordinate amount of time doing that.” In Richmond, Michael Phillips notes Wright gave a "particular nod to owners Dan and Tanya Snyder for empowering him.” Wright: "The business progress we're seeing is surprising to people, in our context. And I would tie it directly to the way we've constructed ourselves differently from a diversity lens, both of demography and experience, and as a result with all that, like, it's a real kudos to them to trust us when we don't look like any other NFL team that they've been accustomed to and certainly not like the folks that they've hired and staffed in the past" (RICHMOND TIMES-DISPATCH, 8/15). STADIUM PLANS STILL ON: Wright believes that the franchise will "still be able to take up residence at a new stadium before FedEx Field’s lease expires in 2027, despite the setbacks to the team’s search in recent months.” Wright: "I think we’ll still be able to hit our timeline. It’s going to take hard work. ... We definitely have to be at full sprint and pace, but we’ll get there.” In D.C., Matthew Paras noted Virginia lawmakers "tabled a bill that would have paved the way to lure" the Commanders to the state. The team also has "explored staying in Maryland or moving back" to the D.C. But the team "faces major obstacles" in a potential D.C. move as federal officials have "not passed legislation that would sell the land of the team’s preferred site -- RFK Stadium -- back to the District.” City officials also indicated in June that they "opposed the idea of the site being used to build the Commanders a stadium" (WASHINGTON TIMES, 8/14). LIPSTICK ON A HOG? In D.C., Sam Fortier writes FedEx Field during Saturday's preseason opener against the Panthers "felt as it had for the last decade.” The stands were "sparsely filled as the home team played from behind.” Inside the stadium, the Commanders had "remade what they could.” They "put up more than a dozen works by local artists” from their initiative "Command the Canvas.” They also "expanded the local food and beverage offerings.” The "new name was everywhere.” Despite this, the past few days have "served as a reminder that even as the team implements two years of hard work, it still has a lot of hard work left.” The game ended as many have at FedEx over the years, with "disappointed fans headed for the exits.” But with upgrades on and off the field, it is "possible, at least for now, they had a little more hope” (WASHINGTON POST, 8/14). SOUNDS FAMILIAR: NBC SPORTS WASHINGTON’s Ethan Cadeaux wrote the Commanders revealed their revamped fight song, "Fight for our Commanders," during pregame festivities for Saturday's preseason game and the lyrics are "eerily similar to Washington's fight song under the old moniker.” There are "a few subtle differences, such as the team name (obviously) and ‘all of Washington’ rather than ‘sons of Washington’” (NBCSPORTSWASHINGTON.com, 8/13). It shows "Commanders": Worst. Fanbase. Ever.
September 26, 20223 yr I thought Hurts looked really good yet again. He has definitely improved throwing the ball down field and being more decisive with his throws. Smith looked amazing and made some huge contested catches. The D-line has been heavily criticized, but they went to town on Wentz in the first half. I think it helps it was Wentz who has a tendency to hold onto the ball and try and play hero ball instead of getting rid of it. We saw it first hand, but I think some credit needs to go to them and the secondary for allowing them time to get to him. They were generating pressure with just the front 4 a lot of the time which was a huge bonus. I was critical of Gannon but he deserves some credit for the last two games. I went to sleep not long after HT and haven't watched the full second half yet, but I think most of what I said will hold up looking at the scores

September 26, 20223 yr Hard to believe that Jacksonville is suddenly a good early season test, but here we are. The Commandskins, obviously, were not. It would be nice to see our team maintain focus and intensity into the 2nd half but I'm not going to complain too much when we're building leads so substantial that our offense can suck for 2 or 3 quarters and we still blow the other team out.

We handled them. Divisional games are never meant to be easy. We handled the Commanders. We will handle the Jags.
September 26, 20223 yr I am happy the Jags are playing well. Doug was screwed a little bit with how it ended in Philly and the fact he has an organisation that has been completely dysfunctional for the majority of my adult life looking competent is a testament to his ability as a coach. The team is looking pretty good right now with Sirianni as the coach and he appears to be trending upwards which is all you can really want from a guy in his second year. If he can replicate Doug's second year with the team it would be even better
