September 15, 20232 yr Last night, when we got our power run game going again, the rest of the league gulped in unison. Now our coaches just need to stay committed to it. That’ll also open up the passing game again. 2-0 against a couple of above average teams and we didn’t play well? I’ll take it.

September 15, 20232 yr The offense looked far better once they committed to using Swift in the run game. It's weird they aren't using Penny much at all (maybe it's pass coverage related and he gave up the penalty on the called back TD) but there is no way they should be leaning on Gainwell and Scott in the run game. The designed QB runs also looked like a**

The designed QB runs also looked like a** They have to lean on Gainwell and Scott. For as immensely talented as Swift is, he's also immensely likely to get injured and miss time. I'd rather have Swift balling out on 40% of the snaps than having him go 100% for a few games and then burn out. Not sure why everyone's so down on Gainwell all of a sudden. He had one bad game in NE where nobody looked particularly fantastic. Meanwhile he's the same player we leaned on in the playoffs last year and he stepped up in a big way.
September 15, 20232 yr If we stay committed to the run game, every one of our backs will look good by the 3rd and 4th quarter when the defense is worn out. I think they're being cautious with Penny given his injury history, but I think even he will see more snaps and look better and better as we move forward. Given 10 days before our next game, we'll get a lot sorted out and look exponentially better, on both sides of the ball, in game 3. As an aside, I had a conference call with one of my customers today and he was bummed because he put Swift of the bench for his fantasy team for this week.

Nobody uses the single ticket/season holder sections of this board so I feel like I’ll have little luck finding a ticket to the Bills game through here

Swift was made of glass with the Lions, but at the same time he rushed the ball a total of 1 carry vs the Pats and I don't think he ran the ball until what felt like the 2nd quarter vs the Vikings. Penny should have been involved in the run game a lot earlier and seen some touches a long with Scott. Gainwell I don't mind out there as a receiver but he is pretty meh running the ball. Swift and Penny are both better runners. It's probably a feeling out period early in the season to see where everyone works best

Swift and Penny are both better runners. It's probably a feeling out period early in the season to see where everyone works best I just hope that it's a full blown RBBC like they've been handling it so far. While they have to manage touches, and as much as I'm sure they want to play matchups, they can't fall into the trap of relying too hard on any one RB. I wouldn't mind the "let's see where everyone works best" approach if we were talking about backs that weren't injury prone. But outside of the guys on the bottom end of the rotation (Gainwell and Scott), we can't have any certainty that Swift and Penny are going to be available come November and December. Each of those four guys has to be treated like they're going to be in the gameplan every week, so defensive coordinators have to plan for all of them. I love what I saw out of Swift, but if he was reliable to be out there he'd still be in Detroit and talking franchise tag like Josh Jacobs and Saquon Barkley were. We can't forget the reason why we were able to get him to begin with.

September 25, 20232 yr Hoping the birds have been ignoring all the internet chatter about us inevitably annihilating the Bucs tonight because, with the former skins coming up next week, this one has trap game written all over it.
