December 1, 20204 yr Yeah - I mean he went for the big play and missed it - had Goedert open too. I think he just needs to become Captain Checkdown for a game or two - complete some passes and get his confidence back. Take those 8-10 yard plays instead of going for 30.

I mean an uncovered WR who was known for his explosive play making in college could be a big play. Get him that ball quick and in space and let's see what happens. Or you can hold it longer behind the 10th version of your banged up offensive line waiting for the TE to uncover because it's obvious that Wentz is allergic to throwing to WRs.
December 1, 20204 yr It's crazy the absolute drop off and difference in him. Any chance that bump on the head was worse than we thought?

I know I did a terrible job of saying it, but I was agreeing with you I was just trying to talk out what I think Carson was thinking when choosing that throw 1 minute ago, binkybink77 said: It's crazy the absolute drop off and difference in him. He's struggling to make basic QB plays and throws. It could be that Clowney literally broke his brain and he's struggling to process things and that could be directly related to the concussion. A friend of mine in HS suffered multiple concussions playing football and you could see the cognitive decline. Was a smart kid who gradually became dumber.
December 1, 20204 yr The only excuse I can think of for both Doug and Carson is Covid. Lack of offseason workouts. Coaches not being able to spend time with the players to fix broken mechanics. New team mates not being able to build chemistry and cohesiveness when on the field. It still doesn't excuse the basic skill errors and poor decisions. Maybe he is forcing it because he is playing badly. I don't think he has thrown the deep ball well other than 2017 that's something he has needed to work on. The weird thing is the issue with Wentz has been his body. However he has taken a beating this year and withstood it all. It's the mechanics and decision making.

Wentz and Doug have both regressed. Wentz has the concussion excuse, Doug has the being forced to work with 50 different offensive minds excuse. It really is looking like this starts at the top. Roseman and Lurie are forcing things on Doug. Doug just straight up looks as broken as Wentz. I don't know if the analytics people are forcing these head scratching 4th down decisions or if he's just has no feel for the game.

Which players on the offensive side of the ball saw meaningful snaps last season that have played the majority of this year? Wentz, Ward, Kelce, the RB's and the carcasses of JP and Lane? Even some of the better teams have looked like trash at times. The Eagles are a dumpster fire. The person that was responsible for the Hurts pick also needs to be fired. They had to have accidentally drafted him

They had to have accidentally drafted him To expand on my previous post, if you're having to teach a 5th year 28 year old QB mechanics, that's not a good thing. He's not going to learn. His whole lower body is a mess when he throws. He's relying on his arm alone which is why he's so inaccurate. I want Wentz to get out of this funk. He's a good guy and we've caught a glimpse of what he can be but he's a goddamn mess and the coaching is compounding that. Lurie is not happy and hoping he tears this thing down starting with Roseman.
December 1, 20204 yr Agreed, come this point Wentz should know what he has to do and not be taught footwork and how to fix his mechanics. There is something about Philly athletes and botched mechanics right now

December 1, 20204 yr https://deadspin.com/don-t-let-the-lucky-2017-super-bowl-fool-you-this-is-w-1845783553 Quote Since general manager and now executive Vice President Howie Roseman took over in 2010, the Eagles have only won 52 percent of their regular-season contests since that time. That equates to only 8 wins a season. The team has made the playoffs only half of those years in what is usually a pretty weak division in the NFC East. In addition to that, they’ve only made it past the wild card round of the playoffs twice in that span. If you take out the Super Bowl season in 2017, the Eagles are 77-77 in Roseman’s tenure. They are not an organization that produces excellence. They are an organization that produces mediocrity.

Part of Doug’s problem is that he’s always saving people, trying to keep them healthy, for later in the season. Playing scared is a sure way to lose. I'm thinking Doug should reevaluate this process a little bit. Doesn't seem to be working too well.

It's not often a player's wife is called to the locker room due to a concussion. At least not that I'm aware of.
