Yeah I’m not ready to condemn Hurts based off one game especially since he definitely felt pressure out there, but he did miss some guys and looked very conservative overall. Coaches needed to make adjustments to what Belicheat was doing out there.

Even Romo pointed out that Bellichick was using some disguised coverages that you rarely see used, they were setting up as if they were in man to man but running zonal, the team should be prepared but you don't expect all the plays to come out in game one of a season.

I'd like to see snap counts because eyeballs it looked like Cox got the most snaps at DT which is pretty ridiculous given his age and our consecutive top 15 picks at DT, and the fact that Carter was clearly the most disruptive interior lineman we had.

Honestly this was a bad spot for the Eagles. They basically have to gameplan for two teams in one week. Belicheat only had to focus on the Eagles. The Vikings in a similar spot lost at home. I’m not worried as a whole. I believe the Eagles can and will right this, but they need to do it quickly, because they have some real tough opponents ahead of them.

Another year of **** D playcalling and I really wanted Gannon gone.

Kind of felt like the defense bailed the Eagles out in this one.

My son and I were at the game yesterday and the first quarter was an absolute monsoon.  Strangely though, we played best in the rain.  I really expected them to open up the offense once the weather let up but it never really happened.  Overall, very happy with the win, but a coupla things that bothered me:

Goedert only gets one target, despite being wide open many times

Swift was a non factor, despite Gainwell not being particularly effective up the middle

Jalen's designed runs up the gut....gotta keep him healthy!

Did not like the play call on 4th and 2

Linebackers looked lost

All that being said, the drunken Eagles chants all the way to the parking lot on Brady night really warmed my heart.

Most of the assumed great teams in the AFC who are allegedly better than the NFC teams all lost. The teams people always speak of being the best in the NFC won, but the thing is we are going to hear about Dallas destroying the Giants, and the 49ers owning the Steelers, but the Eagles basically survived. You likely don’t win the Super Bowl in September and I feel like every year Dallas starts strong and fades when it matters most, but for a team that is supposed to be a Super Bowl contender the Eagles have start looking a lot better than they did against the Patriots.

They did but it still felt like Gannon was still here....I swear it did.....

And remember, they looked uncannily the exact same last year in that season opener vs the Lions.....you are right about dallas but even the articles say that that game was more about how awful the giants are then how great the cowboys are....they do this year in and year out....prescott has alot to prove this year being its his eighth in the league.....

The philosophy of the Eagles defense has basically been the same since Schwartz. I just hope we don’t see more 80% completion percentage games and hopefully our DC can figure out that we need to make moves to get the quarterback out of rhythm.

Correct as we agreed last season that it was basically their philosophy.....I still hate seeing it and still wish Jim Johnson was here.....

True it felt like we survived last year too and then basically demolished the Vikings. They’re up again too. The offense did look a heckuva lot better against Detroit though. I don’t understand why we didn’t use Swift much and Penny at all. They need to get the run game going and unfortunately I don’t think a heavy dose of Gainwell is the answer.

Yeah JJ understood that you can’t sit back and let the other quarterback just pick your team apart. You have design some exotic blitzes.

Agreed again. I have NO idea why Gainwell was the featured back yesterday, as much as I like him and what he does, I do not think thats the answer at all. I didnt like the fact that Goedert only had one target either.....so much to clean up and in only three days.....we shall see if they adjust....

A MAJOR part of my sunday was hearing the commentators state "Jim Johnson and his exotic blitz packages".....I used to love hearing that and then watching them tear teams apart with it....I wonder if we will EVER get that back again, where teams feared our defense.....

I do think the short week is part of the problem too. A combination of many factors at play. No preseason play for the starters. The coaching staff basically had to gameplan for two teams this week. The Patriots only had to focus on the Eagles. The Eagles game plan to me kind of felt like the one they had against the Giants last season. Just trying to get out of there with a win and healthy. Perhaps they underestimated their opponent here too. In any case they survived, and got the win. Hopefully Dean isn’t too banged up though.

JJ also had a player the caliber of Brian Dawkins too. That makes it a lot easier when you can send that guy on a blitz. 😂

I would like to see some hot routes in this offense.

I'm sure they have some... gotta consider the crowd noise as well on the road. They have plenty to work on but still got the W which is what we want in Week 1. They shouldn't be peaking this early in the season with new coordinators and not playing all pre-season. From my understanding NE played their starters in the pre-season (and they still lost). They're still learning each other. Get out of the next 3 to 4 weeks with Ws and minimal injuries and we're well on our way. Similar to last years start.

Minny is trash though so it should be good practice. First two games are like the starters playing pre-season games IMO. Sucks we have the Thursday game so early but at least it's home I guess.

That's the good thing...its at home....let's see what they do....

Jalen Carter is going to be a problem for the league. That dude is gooooood. Also Blankenship looks like a solid NFL player. He seemed like he was always around the ball.

Jalen is a beast. At some point I feel he should start especially if teams try to go no huddle and replicate what NE did early on. Need Fletch fresh for the season. He can still be dominant with less snaps.

Carter really looked like our most disruptive lineman. Seemed like the would take Davis out and bring Carter in during pass rush situations. At some point he’s going to overtake Cox, but I’m not sure if it will be this season or the next.

What was the deal with that swing pass out in the flat to either side where there was one defender and a blocker would block him out and the receiver would gain 5 or 10 yards?  I swear they ran that play 10 times and it worked almost every time.

Also, it seemed like Dean was all around the ball and made quite a few plays

We can only hope it’s precautionary, but not a good sign.

We were lucky to win that game. The only reason we did is because we have more talent than the Patriots do. The coaching was once again horrendous. Going for it on 4th and 2 was monumentally stupid. The play calling was equally horrendous. Didn't make use of the running game. Why did they even bother trading for Swift? Is Goedert still on the team? Zero targets! Not enough shots down field and too much hero ball from Hurts. The play calling is a major concern moving forward.

Ghost made a lot of good tackles. He also got trucked by Zeke and just kept going. He was probably at fault for one of the tuddys but overall think he was one of our better players.
