Have to give it to him. Bellacheat is a great defensive mind. He gave A blue print on how to beat the Eagles RPO offense. The Eagles always seem to struggle against a 3-4 Defense. Bellacheat took away Hurts ability to run to the outside keeping his outside LB's and Ends on the line, always rushing one more player then on our O line could block, and clogged the middle of the defense, all to keep him in the pocket. They put their best d back on DeVonta and doubled Brown. To me, that is a big reason why the offense struggled. Siriani had no adjustment for it.

Also, the Playing calling was terrible, and they didn't run the ball enough to try and defeat the blitz.

The decision to go for it on 4th and 2 was dumb, the play they ran was stupid and they should of punted to try and pin them deep. I guess Nick doesn't trust the punter, or the coverage team.

On defense, I don't recall seeing a blitz the entire game.

A Win is a Win. Week 1 garbage for us and the rest of the league.

We were lucky to win that game. The only reason we did is because we have more talent than the Patriots do. The coaching was once again horrendous. Going for it on 4th and 2 was monumentally stupid. The play calling was equally horrendous. Didn't make use of the running game. Why did they even bother trading for Swift? Is Goedert still on the team? Zero targets! Not enough shots down field and too much hero ball from Hurts. The play calling is a major concern moving forward.

That's about what I saw.  Even the announcers were highlighting the open guys I think.

Well Thai crap better get fixed and fast.  That play won’t hold up against the 49ers or Boys!  Or we could just blame the rain !

Eagles were lucky they were facing Mac Jones yesterday and not one of the several GOOD QBs they'll face later.  Even still, Jones was killing us.

We again look to be highly susceptible to over-the-middle and underneath passing game.  Teams will just use the quick passing game to neutralize our DL because there will always be someone open in the middle of the field...it's maddening.

If I coulda reached through my TV and slapped Sirianni in the head when he decided to go for that 4th down at the end, I woulda.  That was a terrible coaching decision based on the circumstances.  Offense was struggling all game...the better decision would have been to punt and try to pin them deep and make them drive the whole field.

This team needs LBs.  We're gonna get killed all season in any LB responsibility area of the field.

They need to stop getting Hurts killed with some of these OBVIOUS designed runs.  Not saying stop altogether, but really need to dial it back or we'll be seeing Mariota by Week 6.

Jake Elliot was the MVP!

I don’t think Hurts was playing hero ball. To me he looked confused and conservative. He looked like he was trying too hard not to make a mistake. Belicheat confused him and the offense IMO.

I believe there was 1 blitz towards the end of the game that resulted in a sack.  Imagine that!

But.... they did beat him.

Barely.  The defense and special teams (Jake Elliot) really won that game though. For the most part Bill shut down the Jalen Hurts keeper scheme

That blue print will work for one game. Not everyone has NEs personnel for one. Secondly the Eagles will adjust from their vanilla attack.

We got 4-5 weeks to fix it. No worries.

Nobody played in the preseason, a little rusty but they did what they needed to do. Any win in the national football league is a big win!

And now Dean is on IR for non surgery issue with that foot!  Smh!

Not a good start for sure.

In a way, if this forces Roseman not to be stubborn, not to trust the status quo at LB and instead get another, with Dean back in 4/5 weeks.. it may turn out a blessing in disguise.

Sorta of the same thing.  Think the OP just meant Hurts was trying to do too much himself, like holding onto the ball too long or throwing into double coverage when Goedert could run down Broadway naked (or not).  Eagles didn't look prepared overall and that's actually on Siri which he kinda of admitted afterwards.

Carter really looked like our most disruptive lineman. Seemed like the would take Davis out and bring Carter in during pass rush situations. At some point he’s going to overtake Cox, but I’m not sure if it will be this season or the next.

Should be next game.  He had a sack and two near misses on limited snaps.  Could have had another sack easily.

If teams want to run dime packages against us, that’s fine, with our Oline we should just run it down their throats. Penny would’ve been more effective at that than Gainwell.

Gainwell is the worst back on the team......truth be told, he doesn't belong in the NFL, and he started, go figure.

Yeah I’m not ready to condemn Hurts based off one game

One game? He did that sheet all of last year, there is no reading defenses and finding the open man, it was either Smith or Brown 90% of the time.......PREDETERMINED!!

Like I said, that RPO ain't gonna work this year, if he doesn't learn how to read defenses the Eagles will be a .500 team at best.

There were games last year where Hurts called audibles and threw to a hot route or to the 2nd or 3rd option.  Hopefully this was just shaking the rust off

It’s funny that you claim that Hurts hasn’t changed, and assume that they will be a .500 team because of him when they went to the Super Bowl and almost won it last year. 😂🤣😂

He’s for sure legit and Cox at his age should not be dominating snaps. I think eventually they want to let the young lion take over. It’s going to happen eventually. The longer the season goes the more Cox could become worn down, but remember these rookies have never had to play as long as an NFL season is either. They also at times wear down during these long NFL seasons too. I think the Eagles are doing right to pace Carter and the rest of the young guys to get them more acclimated to the long NFL season.

I don’t know when I think Hero ball I think constantly taking chances with the football and his body. For the most part Hurts threw it away when it wasn’t there, threw a ton of check down and short passes, and except the time he fumbled basically dropped to the ground before he got hit. I will agree that this was a lot on the coaches failing to have their guys prepared for the season, but again that could also have to do with the fact they have to prepare for two teams in four days which is crap.

DudeI really hope you’re right, because right now it just feels like they don’t put a lost of stock in getting a linebacker. Sure could have used White’s 9 tackles or Edwards 14 in this one.

Edit: Eagles signed Rahsaan Evans to the practice squad so this is probably the best we are going to get at least until the trading deadline.

You fail to take into account the weak schedule they had along with teams hadn't figured out how to stop that high school RPO, they're lucky Purdy got hurt, because they wouldn't have gotten to the SB.  This year it's a different story with the schedule and Belichick showed them how to handle the RPO.  So yeah, he'd better learn how to read defenses quick, fast, and in a hurry otherwise you're looking at a .500 season.

Moral of the story, take your skirt off and put down your pom poms down, be a man an tell it like it is.
