  1. 1. Were the Eagles Rusty, Or Should Fans Worry?

    • It was just rust. Don't be a fairy.

    • This team is over-hyped.

I think people are getting a bit too extreme after one game. Yeah the team didn't play up to the standards we have given them, but they played against a Belichick coached team, in New England AND with rainy conditions.

They'll be fine.

It’s rust I’m sure it is. Are we as good as the hype? That remains to be seen but I am confident we are better than we were yesterday regardless of how good we may be.

What hype? From what I've seen the media has been talking about how tough the schedule is and how tough it is to repeat in the NFC East and how tough it is to get back to the Super Bowl. When we're 4-0 that's when I think the real hype will start coming in :)

I think they are still a great team that had a bit of rust. The play calling was just so atrocious. If we have a bad season, I wouldn't doubt that was the reason. Passing on 4th and 2 at the end of the game when you can pin them says it all.

It was rust but even the gameplan seemed vanilla which wasn't a good plan IMO

Also not a fan of resting players just because of a short week for the next game

Maybe intentional as the team is still learning each other. I expect as the season progresses the play calling gets more exotic after they get down the fundamentals and basics that the new coordinators are trying to execute. The bad weather for almost a full half didn't help.

The offensive starters didn't play at all during the preseason, so I'm not surprised about them being rusty. The Patriots are a good team also. We can't discredit that. They started to play a little better once the rain stopped, but they still have a lot to improve on.

On a other note, I hope they figure out the RB rotation. Swift is the most talented RB on the team, and he only got two touches. That's inexcusable. I'd also rather have Penny activated on game days over Scott. Perhaps they're preserving him for down the stretch because of his injury history.

A little bit of both:  rust and worry.  They need to clean things up and they have a short week to do it.

Good news is... they're playing Cousins.

Rust, or we wouldn‘t win that game.

I‘m happy the Cowboys won big. They already had their hopes unreasonably high as usual, let them have that spotlight. While we pulled out a tough win on the road and get all the critics and doubters which will help us on Thursday.

And if we beat Cousins at home, that in turn would put a lot of pressure on Dallas against Rodgers..

Maybe the offense was Rusty.

But the defense was literally Gannon 2.0 except without a pass rush. Sure the Eagles got home later in the game but for the most part they weren't getting to the QB  and now the eagles don't even have LB's. I think Howie needs to be looking for a  LB in a trade.

Think I am with you on that one.  Saw some cracks that other teams can exploit once they watch the tape.

I don't know if I'd call 2 new coordinators rust so much as adjustment period but I do believe they'll live up to the hype in the end. Might take 4 games or so to find their new identity

Cousins threw 3 picks last year... hoping for another 3 pick game :) No real pressure on Dallas in a Week 2 game.

Week 1 rust. Guys looked fatigued by the end of the game. I hope they feel like they left meat on the bone and come back stronger.

I'm actually pretty happy with the D's performance. We shut down the run completely which was big. That's why Mac Jones threw 51 passes. When you throw that many you're bound to hit a few of them. And we rushed only 4 most of the game and didn't allow any big plays except for 1. I thought it was a well coached defensive game on both sides.

Don’t like the short week part, but getting this win brought them a little bit of leeway for this next game. Honestly they still could be rusty and they got more banged up than they wanted to be. I think injuries this year could be a bigger factor than a lot of the other stuff.

I don’t think it was a perfect game by the defense at all but they made up for the overall poor job by the playcallers and the execution we saw on the field.

What a difference a day makes.. 😲

Crazy game, can’t remember ever watching the Jets play that well, all the Ints, the Doink, the punt return in OT- and Rodgers is out for the season, maybe for good? Wow.

It seemed like Hurts was a step slow on everything in that game. So yeah it does seem like hes shaking off rust and still getting used to real game speed.

Bellichick is one of the best defensive coaches to ever do it, and he pulled out a bunch of disguised coverages some of which even a vet like Romo hadn't seen, that combined with a new OC and a new right guard meant the offense looked a bit off colour, but they still came out with the win. We won't see a defense like that this week.

Even with Jefferson, the Vikings just lost to a Buccaneers team that are 3rd favourites for the #1 pick with no running game and last chance Mayfield under center.

I really hope this is a bounce back game, but with this game being so close, combined with everything that you mentioned I am concerned about winning this one. Short week, new coordinators, and some injuries to some key defensive players is a lot to overcome. Can’t sit back and let Cousins get into a throwing rhythm like the let Jones do at some point in this game.
