Those players aren't going to be anywhere near the mean streets of Brazil, the rate of murder in Sao Paolo is 21.2 per 100,000, which makes it a gnats hair more dangerous than living in Nicetown-Tioga (20.54) or the really bad areas of Alleghany.

The murder rate in the restaurants and bars of the Sao Paolo Hilton and the Corinthians training facilities is as near zero as makes no odds and that's where they'll be staying the entire time they're not playing the game.

You have to realize that Sao Paulo is a sprawling metropolis - way bigger than NY.  It has its good neighborhoods and it has its slums.   Much more of the violence is in the poorer areas.

That being said, the NFL is prudently instructing the players to exercise due caution.

Hey you're preaching to the choir on that. It's the NFL's half assed approach to growing the game internationally.

If they want to really grow the game, they have to commit fully and long term to leagues in Europe and South America, maybe at first treat it like the MLB farm system for college prospects that need a bit more seasoning, Every team has a feeder team in either Europe or South America. Hell you could even consider funding a college system in cahoots with a couple of the big NCAA Conferences, there are Universities in the UK who would leap at another source of cashflow.

Maybe the NFL needs to hire you for its marketing team.

Didnt they already fail with NFL Europe?

How long ago was that?  20 years, 30 since they took it seriously?

I'm talking about making a spring / summer league where there's a clear line of sight from your NFL team to the European / South American Team. Rather than calling teams crap like the London Monarchs and Amsterdam Admirals, you have the Berlin Bears, Milan Falcons and Chernobyl Cowboys same uniforms, everything.

You could even let the parent franchises use the farm teams to rehabilitate star players coming back from serious injury the previous season.

Well yeah if the teams let the players go up to the Favelas looking for, ahem, entertainment then they will get into trouble, pretty quickly, but so would they if they snuck out in their $1k sneaks and rope chains to go to a booby bar in Brownsville when we visit New York.

Great news.  Hopefully we'll see twitter updates during the game this Friday night.  Can't believe it's coming up.

But even more so down there.  You're in a dicey foreign country with a lot of bad guys.  Better to play it safe and take no chances.  Like the players said, it's a business trip.

I get some people don't like it but the Eagles are hardly being done bad by the NFL compared with other teams. I think we are the least inconvenienced by the international series in the whole league

The Packers are less inconvenienced than we are this year. We have eight home games, eight road games, and one international game. The Packers on the other hand have nine home games, seven road games, and one international game.

That is a significant advantage for them. One extra home game and one less road game. Huge.

Give it a couple of years and every team will have 8 home, 8 away and 1 international.

What did you think would happen when you wanted more meaningful football?

But where’s the fun in being a content eagles fan ?

And I agree as a European eagles fan this is a unique night to be watching the eagles. It’s not 2pm like the international games in London. It’s a Friday night(Saturday morning) and we have the rest of the weekend to do what we want. Also, for American based fans you get the game on a Friday night and not at a stupid hour on a Sunday morning.

The league might actually stick to their statement about being big on player safety ?

The anticipation is killing me. Beer and some good, mom and pop, style pizza on the way. Still another 2 hours to go. I'm liable to be blitzed by the time the game comes on.

I effing hate non-Sunday 1 pm Eagles games.

Yeah I'm old.

People in Mexico and Brazil really like the NFL. One reason of course is because of the time. It is the same time as the West coast. So they can watch the games live.

Europe is different than Americas... There is 6-8 hours difference....so watching live games was not really the option. Way back when ...delayed broadcast perhaps was acceptable.

Now days, with the gambling involved.....delayed broadcast will not work.  So NFL is going after Americas.

Trying being in the UK. Nearly 4 hours meant it finished at 5am 😭

Yep it’s hard being an NFL fan in the UK! Even harder being an eagles fan as we are a big story and play a lot of prime time games.

The playing field was obviously an issue.

QB1 played like ass

Other then the field being a sheet hole I thought the event was decent. Got out of there with a win and no serious injuries. That's a win.
