Have read that even in late October, lakes could be freezing over already. One of the main attractions for Mrs He was the color of the water which we wouldnt get in winter. Also have been finding that a bunch of attractions will be shut down for winter by then as well.

Heard that Niagara Falls is really very pretty!

I’m taking a break from different time zone travel for a bit. Flight diverted from Newark to freaking Syracuse due to storms. 2 angry sleep deprived kids stuck on the plane for 15 hours in what was supposed to be a ~9 hour flight.

I actually saw this(not these two) hiking down to Kilgore Falls in Maryland. Been hiking for over 60yrs and this is a first for me.

No pics, but I spent pretty much the entire Summer in Southern California (I live in Delaware). My first time ever out West. And by West, I mean West of Ohio. 😏

6 weeks in the Low Desert, in Palm Springs/Palm Desert. BEAUTIFUL. Palm trees, Mountains, no humidity, deep blue skies from 7 am to 7 pm with abundant sunshine. It was cloudy/rainy maybe, MAYBE, 3 days out of the 45 or so days I was there. At night, after the Sun set, it was 75-80 degrees. And it was cool/cold!! 78 degrees at 9 pm and it’s feels cold! Crazy, to me. 78 degrees here in DE at night means it’s disgustingly humid/hott. Hiked in the Mountains (I hate hiking) a few times to a couple of different waterfalls. Amazing. The area had slow, calm vibe/feel. LOVED. IT. Affordable too.

The next 4 weeks I was in Huntington Beach. Gorgeous. Sunny most days. Never got above 84 degrees. Clouds and humidity every morning though. Great beach, awesome small town vibe because the downtown area is only like 8 blocks of activity. But it still seemed like a ton of people were there. Very expensive too, food, clothing, etc…. One more thing, it had a Touristy feel. Hotels, bars, shops, restaurants, houses for rent everywhere, etc…

I’m a beach guy, my whole life (I’m 54). Grew up going to the Jersey Shore, Ocean City MD, FL beaches , the Bahamas, and the DE Beaches. But, I’d take the Desert over the Beach in Southern California. Just something special and unique about it, for me. I hope I can go back someday. 🙏😊❤️
