I guess I'm confused as to why you think his survival moves the needle and locks the election down, but don't think that picture or video of the fist pump does. I don't think it locks the election down. I think it was badass but will be forgotten as emotions settle in the next few months.

Hate to say it, but this was likely a dress rehearsal for what is ahead.  A real sniper with a real weapon and Trump would be dead right now.  He’s fortunate this was simply some dumb goof playing GI Joe.

Trump is the single biggest cause of the current volatile political climate.  If he had been assassinated today, the reaction after reflection would be "that was bound to happen”

I'm not voting. I also said in my first reply to you I don't think it locks anything down. It will be forgotten. I do think it was a badass moment, though. It does project strength. It is an iconic picture.

How so? It actually was a pretty close call last time with the fake electors scheme. Pence declining to deny certification was the only thing that really saved a Constitutional crisis. This is different. He almost died in front of everyone. As long as he doesn't act like a complete lunatic about it by trying to blame it on Biden himself, turnout is going to see a huge boost from this, with the majority being in his favor.

Dude, assassination attempts like this are never forgotten. A bullet was inches from ending his life. Another bullet literally did end someone else's life. How in the world will that be forgotten? The only thing more infamous than unsuccessful assassination attempts are the successful ones.

I'm having trouble following your thoughts. Probably because I'm tired. You sound like you are saying it won't impact swing voters and we agree. Today many may be leaning towards him, but in a few months when they go to the booth will they be thinking about today or the direction they want the country to go? They will forget about today and it will be what they think is best for their family. He'll get a bump in the polls but I think it will settle down.
