I’m seeing recruiting ads all over the place, and like ten/fifteen years ago youd never see anything like that. You’d be fighting against a bajillion applicants and then if you got lucky you’d be left with a spot as a junior agent at the Bum F, IA field office or something. I think it’s a combo of the boomers retiring, gen Z not having any concept of civil service, and a lot of qualified people going through 2020 and not wanting to deal with it. Edit: honestly I’m not so sure we don’t just need to start consolidating different agencies. Every department has their own agency, in addition to what’s at DHS and Justice. IMO should be three federal law enforcement agencies: a protective service (glorified building security), a police service (Park Police, NPS, BIA, etc), and an investigative service. Certain agencies you might be able to let do their own thing (ICE, Energy, Postal Inspectors) because it’s a super specific thing that they do and they’re already good at it. And then just roll some of the USSS into the DSS and have all personal protective details go through them. You’ve got too many big wigs trying to get the biggest piece of the pie and isn’t that big to begin with. I know a former USSS guy who was the father of a childhood friend, and he told me he left because the work just sucked. He was a Vietnam vet and was used to really physical work, and he expected it to be a nice transition from the military with less wear on his body but still having some camaraderie, getting to work with firearms, and so on while not having to deploy.m for months at a time. Instead he was literally just standing in silence outside of a door for random family members of politicians for hours on end every day. He was bored to death, and on top of it he was constantly traveling and working nights which put a lot of strain on his marriage. It worked out in the end because he started a security company based on that experience and sold it for a boat load of money, but he said it was the most miserable experience of his life. And this guy was literally a tunnel rat in Vietnam. Anyway, consolidating agencies would probably make sense (saying this without knowing much about what’s under the hood obviously). But it seems to me they need the incentives for more agents and to keep them for longer. the way it was described to me was a feedback loop — less money means lower pay and fewer agents, lower pay and fewer agents means longer hours and more travel, all that means more incentive to leave. And then it snowballs.

It's not sane behavior. I happen to disagree with MAGA's reasoning of the 2nd Amendment. You are not going to overthrow the US Government by shooting your way out of it.

The problem with humans is they want to pigeonhole people into nice and neat categories so they can explain it away. "Oh look, that guy who did a bad thing wasn't one of ours. Our country would be better if everyone was like us"

Man LE has gotten worse than I thought. My buddy does instruction and when he told me it’s gotten so bad that he just started to straight up offer classes for free to LE cause they’re that bad these days, I thought he was being hyperbolic. Wtf, man. The two most incompetent types of cops are cops from big cities and cops from bum F. For the latter, their tactical teams are usually fat Fs who have no idea what they’re doing and just have time on the job. (FWIW in my experience the best quality of cops are in the burbs. They pay better, so they can get a little choosey.)

Why would Trump even want to delay certification? You're being evasive, because I think you know exactly where this ends. How were they trying to delay it beyond a day when they literally left after a few hours without even being forced to leave. Law enforcement didn’t have to force them out. They all literally walked out. Like I said, a group of brainwashed useful idiots, Not an actual rebellion. Wish I could have been there to see the looks on all their individual stupid faces when they got served later. Of course Trump wanted to remain President. Do I think he’s a slimeball who would try to lie his way into staying in power? Yes. Do I think he has it in him to do the things necessary to stay in power by force (having your own personal army, killing people, etc…). No.
