With Konecny it would depend on return.  He’s still only 27 and undisputedly the most skilled player on the team.  Laughton, OTOH, has always been junk bonds; he’s never really come close to expectations and, if there’s any kind of substantive offer, should be dealt ASAP

Yeah, TK should have been dumped at the deadline. Apparently, the Flyers were offered a 1st for him. Shame on them for turning that down. This guy is an above average hockey player who wants 9-10 million per year. Screw that. Only superstars should get that kind of money and he is far from that. Laughton while not making much, is taking up a roster spot that could go to a younger guy. He offers nothing except "culture". Big deal.

It's gross how much they value "culture " over actual talent. Granted, Johnson is only 1 year at 1 million, that spot could go to a younger prospect.

Is that really what TK wants? He should be around 7-7.5 million per.

That's the rumor, probably put out by his agent. Here's the deal- why should the Flyers give him an 8 year deal? By the time they are contending for cups, he will be on a major downward trajectory in performance because he will then be in his mid 30's. They have enough of those guys now, I would hope they learned their lesson but I have a bad feeling that they are gonna re-up him and to me, that would be a massive mistake.

If it’s closer to 7 million, I might do it. You need the young guy to have some scorers to play with so he can develop. You hope then in 3 years you get 3 years of high level play from TK from 30-33 years of age.

If he would accept something like 5/35 I might do it. Anything more? Forget about it. They are a losing franchise with him so they can lose without him. I believe he has like 1 point in 22 playoff games and he was also invisible this past season when they needed him to step up to get in the playoffs and he was invisible yet again. He is at best a 3rd line winger on a cup contender that wants to be paid like a first liner.

-- Ryan Ellis has to be the worst trade in NHL history.  The Flyers will end up paying about $30M for 4 games?  At least Myers and Patrick's careers both flamed out as well

Ryan Ellis and Kevin Hayes- 2 Chuck Fletcher specials. Speaking of Ellis, I've never seen a guy like that just disappear to never be heard from again. I mean, has he been seen anywhere? If I'm the Flyers, that dude would be sitting in the press box all 82 games of the season. He can't play because he's hurt? Fine, his ass would be working for the GM in some way. I don't care if its janitorial duties. Screw that guy and screw Fletcher. 

Cal Petersen doesn't bother me that much. They took on that contract to get a 1st round pick. They're rebuilding, he's only on the books 1 more year, so to me it's a whatever.

Ryan Johansen is a strange one. Why the Flyers didn't rescind that trade like you said, who knows. Maybe it was them who screwed up and don't want to look bad. That's another guy that would be working for the team one way or the other.

Yep, and I wouldn't offer any more than 5 years either. He is at best a 3rd ling winger on a cup contender but him and his agent think he is Ovechkin or Crosby in their prime.

This team will never learn. Different people in charge yet the same ole crapola keeps happening. TK offers more to this team as an asset to trade than he actually does playing for them. Wow. 

Not much of any discount for the NTC, that’s for sure. Bad deal for the Flyers. So much for the rebuild. They have such little cap flexibility moving forward. Flyers continue to mire in mediocrity. Same as it ever was.
