I'm also curious to see how we fare on ice that didn't just have two OTs played on it. With Montreal being the less talented team bad ice kind of levels the playing field for them. They do have speed but a lot of the flyers' skill players thrive on high difficulty passes and puck movement, clean ice makes them more dangerous as well.

it’s gonna be nice to see them play the early game and be the first game on the ice on Friday. I think it’s going to help them especially the defense at getting the puck out of the zone. The second period was similar to Tampa where they just kept having turnovers and i don’t know if it was bad passes or just the ice sucked and normal passes the make weren’t getting there.

I hate saying it but at some point can JVR, G and voracek do something? Like they are getting paid like big time players and we’ve yet to see them since getting to Toronto. I have a feeling one does something next game. (I get G had a point but really we are going to need him to be a bigger force. He’s had 1 point in the 4 games).

What a game by Farabee, too.  Guy was locked in the whole game.

Man, Carter Hart really did model his game after Price.  He's just so confident in his movements.  He is the real deal and I couldn't be happier!

Like that one save in which it bounced up onto the back of his shoulder.  The ,moment he saw where it was, he calmly pushed off and slid out away from the crease so it wouldn't drop into the net behind him.  Granted the puck could have easily bounced behind him to begin with, but that subtle movement just ensured it would not go in once he noticed it.  Love the kid.

Such a horrible, horrible, old arse joke.

I thought that 4v3 PP with those top guys was very good.  They got a bunch of shots in a row.  Just couldn't bury it.  I was thinking just as it was finishing that Giroux should think about taking a couple more no look writ shots when he's got the puck low on that side.  Everyone's working to cover up his passing lanes, including the goalie.

Also I think Niskanen had his worst game so far.  Out of sync and could have prevented Weber's PP goal if he was more aware.

I need to see more out of the PP.  I also need to see more out of G and Coots.   I’ve lost hope in JVR and Voracek.   AV called them both out early in the year and it just hasn’t stuck.   JVR skating in the slot In the 1st, no one near him and he passes the puck.  Way too much passing on the PP.  That has been a Giroux thing the past 10 years.  Simplify and get the puck to the net.

I agree with the people who have said this could be Jake's last year as a Flyer with the expansion draft.  Has to affect his motivation.

JVR I think is just happy to be there.  He's always been the kind of hot and cold player that's almost always cold.  We just have to hope he heats up.

At some point they are going to need G, Coots, and Voracek to play to up their ability andgive us production if they want to win a cup. I love our depth but in order to win a cup your stars have to play like stars at some point to win it.

I feel like it’s a little early to give up on Voracek and JVR especially Voracek. You gotta remember this is literally their 5th game since returning from a multiple month break, and voracek missed one with an injury.  If later in the series their still shooting blanks, then be concerned. But we have a way too small sample size to write people off. Concern sure, but not write off completely.

So you guys not in the tri state got Milbury and Boucher.  Are those guys "at" the game?  Or just watching from home like Jim Jackson and Bill Clement, who btw seems even more like Mr. Magoo when he has to watch it on the live feed.

That was the first thing I noticed when Hart came up. I'm not a great analyst when it comes to goalies, but the thing that struck me right away was just how calm, cool, and collected he looked back there. He's so fluid in his movments and never seems jittery or rattled, making tough saves so effortlessly. It's the kind of thing some guys just have in them, but to see it at such a young age is truly astounding.

Yea I'm not sure how Millbury got into the bubble. He is horrific, thankfully I have NHL.tv and got to listen to JJ and Clement.

Missed the game due to working tonight, but caught most of the 3rd period on the drive home.  Was a relief to hear that horn sound to end the game.  Sounds like Hart had a helluva game.  Also sounds like we played a bit sloppy at times, but still gutted out an ugly win.  Sometimes you have to have grit to win the ugly ones so hopefully our boys have it and can tough these games out when they need to.

Watching the goal highlight on NHL.com.  First goal by Provy, now that's how you set up a PP.  Double screen on a hot goalie to take away his vision.  Good puck movement around the edges and get that traffic in the middle.  Sometimes I think they Flyers try to get too cute or fancy on their PP.  Keep it simple and work the basics, especially now where you're in a drought and coming off the long layoff probably haven't developed that rhythm yet.  Second, nice heady play by Farabee.  Got the deflection on net and kept with it and picked up the rebound and slammed it home.  Great effort from the youngster.

As some of you mentioned above, hopefully they clean up their sloppy play (especially coming out of their own zone) and they take their chances better and knock some of those pucks in the open net.  It's nice to have the confidence in having a goalie who you can depend on.  Would be nice to see them come out and roll the Habs next game and really put them on their heels for the series.

Voracek was the only reason the Flyers scored the first goal, and he gives energy and balance to the third line.

Aube-Kubel was dreadful; he made the wrong play almost every time he touched the puck.

Hopefully Laughton understands now why good goal scorers don’t wind up for a slap shot 8 feet in front of an empty net.

I’d prefer to see Raffl in the lineup over Thompson

We all would, but they don't really have that option right now

Agreed on Voracek, his screen was what blocked Price on the shot.  (I hope Provy learns to take that shot more often on the PP when he sees 2 guys converge.)  But yea, Jake's a good fit with NAK.  They just need a better center than Grant.

"Wrong play" can be said about a lot of players on that ice.  Don't think Aube-Kubel was any worse than a couple others who struggled controlling bouncing pucks.

Oddly, I don't blame Laughton in the slightest.  99 out of 100 times the shot he took goes in as it was going upper net.  Price literally tipped it with the narrow blade of his stick while turned flat side down. Incredible save.

And I think Raffle is still hurt, isn't he?  And you can't remove Thompson's speed from the 4th line.  He gets to a bunch of pucks most on our bottom 6 can not.

JMO.

I’m not convinced the shot doesn’t just hit Suzuki in the back if Price doesn’t get his stick on it.  The slap shot is less accurate and takes more time to release — even on a one-timer.  Should have wristed it rather than burying his head.

Having said that, I think Laughton has turned into a pretty good player.  Price robbed him twice in the game; he also got the tip of his glove on Laughton’s slap shot earlier in the period.

So watching the Western Conference play in Edmonton it seems as though the ice is definitely keeping up better than it is in Toronto. Granted they only played two games there today but it seems as though they are not having issues passing the puck. Been slick and crisp. The humidity is about 4% less in Edmonton and on average for the next week the temperature is about 8° cooler. also playing a factor in this

Carter Hart nearly gave Gulian a heart attack

He had a hart problem....

I get a ‘Keith Primeau’ vibe out of Kevin Hayes; if he can be a force in these playoffs the way his line was during the play-in round robin, then the Flyers will be tough to handle.  I have confidence Giroux and Couturier will do their part.  Konecny needs to be better than he was in Game 1.

Not even sure where to start with JVR.  The 4th line might be the best place for him

pastrnak unfit to play. Did not look good skating off the ice. Looked like a groin type of injury with how he was skating and holding himself.

I used to be beat after playing for one hour, I cannot imagine how those guys are feeling today

Yeah, I played in a rec league with a bunch of early 20’s dude.  If we had an early Saturday AM game, half of them wouldn’t show up on account of partying too hard the night before.  We would have 2 lines for a full game.  It was awful.

When the Flyers had the insane OT game in the playoffs years back, I remember hearing that the staff had to order pizzas to the bench to keep them going.

Great.  Canes evened it up.   I need Boston, Tampa and Washington to all go F off.  Oh and of course we win our round.

I think Tampa and Washington are in real trouble. Blue jackets doing what they did last year to Tampa and imo a lesser talented Tampa team. And Washington i didn’t think was playing well before the break and even after it. Plus islanders are a pain in the a** to play.

Columbus scares me.

With Columbus you have to get the lead. Once they get the lead it’s like playing the New Jersey Devils back in the 2000s. It’ll frustrate the hell out of you.

Tampa got figured out. It’s one thing for them to run the regular season, but it’s different once you’re in the playoffs and the other team has you scouted. I have the benefit of living in Tampa so I can get a feel for them. Once they get a lead they sit back and don’t push but at the same time they don’t have an effective trap. Cooper is not an emotional coach at all and can’t adjust on the fly. Long story short no jam. They have a phenomenal front office and ownership but IMO they desperately need a new coach.

Columbus doesn’t scare me. This series is just a product of Tampa not being able to finish.
