Moving forward they need to get the powerplay figured out. I believe they are 1-28 since the round robin games. That’s hard to do 

To come back with two straight shutouts after that game 2 blowout is pretty strong mental fortitude from Hart. Props to him.

If this is going to be the NJ Devils (early in Broduer’s career) brand of hockey.  Then so be it.  But it sure is difficult to watch.  Giroux pisses me off.  He’s always been a player who would rather make the cute pass then get the puck to the net.  But I’m over it.  He’s been one of their worst forwards.   I have been clamoring for a different Captain for about 5 years now.  It’s just not going to change.  You need the leader to do the right thing.  Which is simplify the game, get the puck to the net and grind out goals.   Thankfully AV has instilled a defensive culture into this team and Hart has been pretty good.  Maybe the style the Flyers plays makes the other teams play passive.  I don’t know.  But all 3 teams they played in the RR seemed to be passive.  Same now with Montreal.  There just doesn’t appear to be much energy or snarl from either team.  I think this is over tomorrow.  I think our defensive system has sucked the life out of them.  Again, if that’s the idea then I am ok with it.  But if you’re going to be a defense-first team, then offensively (especially on the PP) you need to be sound and simple.  Not cross ice passes, no look passes or refusing to take the shot on a 2 on 1.   

Giroux is over the hill.  His game is not aging well with today's NHL.  He isn't fast enough and he certainly isn't big enough.  At this point, he is good for face-offs and is a decent power play guy but even there, he tries to make the stupid cross ice passes even when the other team is playing the lanes.  Now he has become gun shy when he has open shots.  It is very frustrating.  Vorasuck should have been traded 2 years ago.  He is useless.  I am praying he gets picked up in the expansion draft.

I generally agree, though Jake at least has done SOMETHING this series. He did have the only goal in the 1-0 win. And had the goal that deflected off his a**... I at least give him credit for being in the right place screening Price.

Yeah I guess.  He has just been invisible for the last 2 years.  We have a better version of him now in Hayes.

I mean I’ve been on the trade Jake wagon for a few years now, but I have to cut him some slack right now. He’s credited with 2 of their 5 goals in this series. Particularly the game 3 goal, because without that we go to overtime and who knows if Hart’s gem of a game could have ended in an OT loss.

I argued two seasons ago to trade giroux when his value was still high and get a boatload of really good young prospects and picks and let them grow with the young core we already had. They basically got sentimental with giroux and he’s not been the same player. now I’d be surprised if a team is willing to take on that contract and give up compensation thats very good. I also much rather have spent the money we paid Jvr on Brayden schenn. I still contend schenn is better overall hockey player than JVR.

In fairness  Ben Simmons inside the bubble wasn’t very good either. Before his knee injury his defense was awful. The team is just poorly constructed. Elton Brand an dope who built a team that was supposed to win on defense and they aren’t mentally strong enough to play elite defense and grind it out. And he built a team meant for the 1980s
