Official Philadelphia Flyers Thread - What are we expecting in 24/25?

Featured Replies

That idiot Milan Lucic cost the Flames their season almost single-handedly.  Ahead 3-0 and Dallas doing absolutely nothing, he runs a Stars defenseman into their goalie and takes a penalty 200 feet from his own net.  Dallas scores a PP goal and haven’t stopped scoring since — six straight goals by the end of the second period.

Momentum is a huge thing.

post captain giroux playoffs: 27 games, 14 points and 3 goals.

That makes me nauseous.  That's really  .. really bad.

I recall at least a couple of you saying you wanted Gallagher's face in the glass or the ice, so you sort of got your wish.  Nisk gets 1 game so Ghost replaces him?

We need to win this next game and give life or hope to the Habs.  Anything can happen in one game, especially a Game 7.  Don't get sucked into their BS play and antagonizing tactics.  Play your game, cut down on errors and keep your skates moving.  Keep it simple and the odds favour us.

That's a telling stat about G's playoff point production from when before he was the Captain to after.  Wonder if it's mindset or just him getting older and losing a half stride?  I also was a big LeClair fan when he was a Flyer, though it took a while to warm up to him because he cost me some money.  During the LA Kings v Habs Cup series when the Kings had Gretzky, I had a friend who worked at Bloomingdale's in NYC.  He said they had a framed and signed LA Kings Gretzky jersey at his store and with his employee discount I was going to get a good price on it.  I was waiting for the conclusion of the Stanley Cup Final and hoping the Kings won as that would have greatly increased the value of the framed signed jersey, but LeClair scored 2 GW goals to help the Habs win the Cup that year.

This is going to sound terrible, but I have no sympathy for that stupid cuck. He was cross checking dudes literally from puck drop. After whistles, away from the play, anywhere he could get it. He got what he Fin deserved and I'm glad I don't have to hear his name anymore. Yeah they will definitely be head hunting and the first dude to try it is going to get ejected.

The flyers just need to let the Canadiens shoot themselves in the foot. They tried to do it last game but Myers decided he wanted to be stupid too. Hopefully hart doesn't ish the bed again

I wasn't judging you.  Just saying you got your wish and we won't have to hear about him any longer.  He did seem to be a poncy little prat.

Agree.  I think the Habs will try to sucker the Flyers into an ish show clusterF game (like how an internet troll sucks someone down to their LCD level and beats them with experience) and they just have to be smart, cut out the stupid arse mistakes and bring some jam to their game.  Get after those loose pucks, finish your check, give Hart lanes to see while getting bodies in front of Price.  Hart bounced back once.  He can do it again.

Lots of questions heading into game 6.

Will Hart shake it off and bounce back?

Will any one of Konecny, Giroux, Hayes, or Couturier actually produce?

Can Ghost (I assume he replaces Niskanen) provide an offensive spark and cut down on the turnovers (every time he has the puck in the defensive end I get nervous)?

Will the Habs come out head-hunting?

Can the young guys play loose and fast or will they tighten up?

Will the Flyers stop the blind passing garbage that ends up going right to Habs players?

Is this the game Carey Price steals?

Will Michel Therrien screw up a PP that finally started getting some traction?

I usually know in the first 5-10 minutes what type of game it's going to be depending on how the Flyers come out. This is the time for the captain to step up in more ways than just scoring. A few weeks ago (my wife reminds me) I was praising Giroux for how he has handling this team with his leadership as he is not close to the same player he was offensively.

I will admit - I am a madman during these games and usually need a Xanax when they lose - but this is fun. I have missed Flyers playoff hockey more than I realized (my heart be dammed).

I am a little concerned what they are going to do with the lines defensively today. While Niskanen hasn’t be great this series, he’s played a lot of minutes with Provorov. Do you move Sanheim or Myers up, who have gelled really well or take the risk of pairing hagg ghost or Braun with provorov. No real great option here.

They need to come out with their hair on fire and set a tone and take the momentum.

Nisky sitting is arguably a good thing. He’s been pretty poor since the restart. Time for Ghost to put up or shut up. A great opportunity for him to demonstrate why he should be in the line up.

And for the love of god, Thompson or Grant need to sit, and then slot G or Laughton at C and bring JVR back into the line up.

I think Braun moves up with Provy.

Always seem to forget Johnny Hockey won a cup with the Habs.

Probably. The alternative is Ghost. Ghost has a lot of history playing alongside Provorov, gives you better offensive options and Provorov can cover for Ghost’s lapses more.

I agree it should be Ghost but don’t see AV going that way.

yeah i dont know if AV will trust him enough.

at least its a 7pm game i wont miss part of it.

Hart seems too classy to do this, but this would be all time.

I could see one of His teammates doing it though, show they have his back. But I think they take the high road.

Eh i don’t think AV trusts jvr and if he’s not scoring goals he’s really no help to us. While grant and Thompson aren’t as talented. I think AV trusts them to do their jobs. Whereas he doesn’t trust jvr and like i said when not scoring pretty much doesn’t offer much else out there.

The Flyers just need to come out focused and put the Habs away tonight. Time to move on.

Ghost and Myers have looked good the few times they've spent together. Sucks to split Myers and sanheim but the alternatives are either ghost/braun (horrible) with hagg/prov or the below suggestion

Absolute worst case scenario. It'll look just like the Macdonald years. Braun cannot be moved up because that gives him more ice time which he does not need, and against tougher competition. Braun has been absolutely horrible in this series, and he works best with hagg. Keep him on the third line.

I wonder if Braun doesn’t look good To begin tonight if they think to just go 5 defensemen and just more time to guys like Myers, provy and sanheim

I predict hart gives no more than 1 goal and we move on
