Since the gop controls everything, they need to change those stupid asylum laws. Even most liberals I know don't think you should be able to enter the country illegally then claim you are seeking asylum when you get caught. Nor should anyone be able to seek asylum just because their country sucks.

100% agree. The root problem is our asylum laws, which basically throw people into an arcane, slow moving process. The GOP should change the law to expedite decisions and say that people escaping economic hardship are not eligible for asylum. Allow case officers to make faster decisions. I feel like most true asylum cases, whether those from SE Asia in the 1970s or Afghans more recently, are pretty obvious and don't involved illegal border crossings. The only true asylum cases that involve people showing up on US soil seem to be those fleeing Cuba.

I don't disagree, but I also think (?) there may be some international laws here that we're obliged to honor due to agreements we've made.

Either way expediting the processing of these cases is the best path to actually solving the problem.

The administration of the president elect is starting to take shape.  A few noteworthy appointments/nominations:

Susie Wiles - daughter of Pat Summerall.  Is well known and respected as a lobbyist in Florida.  She spearheaded the Trump campaign this time around.  Is well known for staying in the background and not making herself the object of news.  Wiles, along with Ron DeSantis, also helped transform Florida from a swing state to a solidly red state.

Elise Stefanik - nominated to be U.S. Ambassador to the U.N.  Congresswoman Stefanik is Harvard educated and sharp as a whip.  She first gained notariety by famously dressing down Jim Comey at a Congressional hearing during the first Trump administration.  Recently, she took the lead in exposing the failure of leaders of renown academic institutions to address rising anti-semitism at the universities and helped facilitate resignations.

Lee Zeldin - another NY congressman, nominated to be head of the EPA.

Tom Homan - appointed as border czar, effectively succeeding Kamala Harris in that role.  Well known for dressing down AOC and exposing her ignorance at a Congressional hearing.  Also pissed off radical leftist Congresswoman Pramila Jayapal at a hearing.

Stephen Miller - served with Trump during his first administration as a speechwriter, Miller will serve as deputy chief of staff.

Throwing my hat in the ring for ambassador to Thailand.

I also find it odd that the dems raised so much money (according to them) and it seems like there was like a 4 to 1 ratio of pro Republican ads. Where'd all that money go?

Kamala's? Apparently purchasing "star power".

Hell yes. Trump's dismantling lib propaganda centers one at a time, and I'm here for it. His second term is going to be amazing.

Dave Moss just threw all of his syllabuses in the trash

Polymarket had a 100% batting average during the general election.  Looks like Thune it is.

I actually like some of these. I don't like putting prayer in school or students getting instantly expelled for his reasons though

His answer seems to be to throw everything back to the states.  His plan is to un-unite the states of america.  Make America an early colonial settlement again.” Should have been his slogan.  We are totally Fed.

It's a good idea. Especially considering most of Trump's opponents want to do away with standardized testing anyway.

You do realize the DoE isn't even 50 years old right?
