Correct me if I'm wrong, but you boneheads wanted free trade agreements 30 years ago, then decided you didn't like them when people lost their jobs.  Which was what Democrats were saying was going to happen the whole time.

Just saw your new sig.

NAFTA was a Clinton-Globalist initiative.  But keep living in your fantasy world of delusion.

North American Free Trade Agreement (NAFTA), controversial trade pact signed in 1992 that gradually eliminated most tariffs and other trade barriers on products and services passing between the United States, Canada, and Mexico. The pact effectively created a free-trade bloc among the three largest countries of North America. NAFTA went into effect in 1994 and remained in force until it was replaced in 2020.

My mistake - Bush was a globalist, as was Clinton

Great.

Globalism is good.

Globalism has been very good for the American consumer.

Unemployment has been consistently low throughout the globalist period. Labor participation rate has gone down, but real inflation-adjusted median (not average, median) income has risen almost 30% since NAFTA was signed.

Partisanship has muddied the conversation.

This didn't sound correct to me, and after some looking - this is misleading.

NAFTA was a major issue in the 1992 election. Bush negotiated and signed a draft, but Clinton signed the version passed by Congress late 1993. This was after agreeing to some additional points around economic impacts and labor rights.

Congressional Republicans were much more supportive of NAFTA than Democrats. This was one of Clinton's "triangulation" issues.

Republicans really hated Clinton for succeeding politically by adopting some traditionally (at the time) right-wing policies.

Cool story, bro.

You’re right, Clinton supported NAFTA.  He was also a Democrat from Arkansas - not exactly your typical liberal hotbed.  Wal-Mart, where Hillary was a board member, was a huge supporter of NAFTA.

That doesn’t change the fact that "free trade” was a Reagan-Bush talking point.

Sure, I didn't say otherwise. I literally said this was part of his triangulation strategy.

I miss the days when a moderate presidential candidate who borrowed winning policy from the opposition was a good thing.

A "purist" like Bernie would be awful for the American economy and consumer.

The whole thing about globalism is it was created by the Americans who fought in both World Wars.

Since before the US was a country we got dragged into stuff by European feuding and we got sick of it. So we took on the role of security and in exchange the world traded in the USD. We stopped getting sucked into large wars, and we made a lot of money.

The people who remember how bad it was are largely dead, so we are now getting a soup sandwich world order because people want to eat their cake and have it, too.

We are the wealthiest family in a town of no police, and we are about to be surprised when our stuff gets stolen because we stopped running and funding the posse.

Deportations could cause 'real issues here in Florida'
"Add these programs up, and we have real issues here in Florida,” said Juan Carlos Gomez, a professor and immigration expert at Florida International University College of Law.

"What will be the consequences to the economy? But what are the other consequences to people and families? There are many that are very afraid right now,” Gomez added.

Miami-Dade County, with an almost 70% Hispanic population, voted overwhelmingly for Trump in November, with the Republican winning by 11 percentage points over Democrat Kamala Harris. It was the first time a Republican presidential candidate carried the county since 1988.

But Miami-Dade could prove ground zero for Trump’s immigration policies.

"It seems like a lot of people thought, ‘This doesn’t apply to me,’ ” Gomez said. "We’ll find out.”

The First Corruption Scandal of Trump’s Second Term Is Already Here

https://www.yahoo.com/news/first-corruption-scandal-trump-second-155515064.html

Justin Sun, a Chinese national accused of fraud, sent Donald Trump $18 million last week.

The newsletter Popular Information reports that Sun, most recently famous for spending $6.2 million on a banana and then eating it, paid $30 million for cryptocurrency tokens from World Liberty Financial, which is backed by Trump. In a pinned post on his X profile, Sun bragged about the purchase, saying his own blockchain startup, TRON, was "committed to making America great again and leading innovation.”
