May 26May 26 The smaller PCP offices owned by an LLC of one or a few doctors are going away, and they're being replaced by large corporate entities. What PCP offices there are left are going concierge plans. (Also, concierge plans are available at different price points, so they're affordable across the board.) So because of the loss of doctors offices, people are swarming ER's because they don't have a PCP. (I think ERs need the ability to deny care, not based on the PT not being able to afford it, but because it's not an ER level event. Stub your toe? Yeah, walk next door to the urgent care office.)Another thing I think needs to be reconfigured is the 1960s law that allowed NPO hospitals to claim healthcare in and of it self was a charitable thing, so they no longer had to be charitable in order to be tax-exempt. (Yeah, that procedure you or your insurance company paid for? You got that out of the goodness of the hospital's heart, and even though you paid for it, it's still charitable.) So maybe remove that and require them to be charitable in a demonstrable way.

I bought private insurance on top so I don’t have to deal with that mess.

May 27May 27 I should add that Sweden is larger than California with only Alaska and Texas being states that are larger.
