He is the face and leader of this authoritarian movement, but in reality, it’s the people in the background that are way more evil and worrisome than he is. All of his sycophantic disciples in this administration (Miller, Vance, Bondi, Noem, Hegseth etc.) will do anything to appease him, even if he doesn’t specifically call for it. They are the real danger that the US turns into authoritarianism. The playbook is eerily similar to what happened to Germany in the 1930’s and it’s crazy that some here apparently would be fine with a dictatorship, as long as that means they crushed the left, libs or RINOs.I think it's the rank and file who are the worst, the ones we interact with right here. They don't even get anything out of it.

This isn't a new generation of the party or a radically different population that made this flip, it's almost the EXACT same tens of millions of people who have rewired their brains to join a cult.

Do their conservative views even align with this autocratic regime? Has it always been their view that the federal government or one man should possess this much power over the people? What do these Republicans stand for besides their sycophantic love of DJT?

Trump did better with Gen X than he did with any other generation. The perfect storm was just Gen X reaching the age where generations start to vote a lot.
