I saw a couple articles where serious people tried to dig in and they found the real savings was max 30% or so of the reported number. However, they never factored in potential factors like needing to reemploy people so the number may be quite a bit lower in reality.

That said, pharmaceutical companies don't "recommend" pregnant women taking many OTC drugs if any. Too much liability. They always say it should be taken under the care of a physician.

Yeah, and I believe that's because there's no completely safe and ethical way to conduct most pharmaceutical trials with pregnant women as a cohort. Just as we saw during covid, the best data we have are women who took Tylenol before they found out they were pregnant and then following up to see if there were any adverse effects. That's usually what doctors go off of when informing a patient whether it's safe to use or should be avoided entirely.
