Granted, most of the time I was in Europe I was wearing about forty pounds of extra gear about five days a week so that contributed to it, but I can tell you that people eating a ton of food in Europe and not gaining or losing weight is due to the fact that in Europe you have to Fn walk everywhere, and the portions are smaller. They don’t use certain additives in food, but all it does is make sugary cereal taste like cardboard. Do I think our food is under regulated? Yes. Do I think that regulating our food is going to make us healthy? No. Not at all, because we’re going to continue to overeat and not walk.

January 29Jan 29 I have seen enough of Europe to know you can choose to live off of the same amount of soda and potato chips you can buy in the USA. I also know America has its share of farmer's markets, fresh food and produce. You choose what you want to eat. Good point about the walking in Europe. But I also do plenty of walking as a tourist in the USA. MAGA also says kids should go work at McDonald's in order to eat rather than have healthy school lunches.... So there.

It's such a dumb stance considering this is supposed to be the religious party. Feeding people should be the floor of their moral compass.

The overweight/obesity equation in general is a rather quite simple one. If you eat too much and aren't active enough, you will be overweight, period. And that doesn't matter if you're eating "healthy" or not. If you have a 3000 calorie diet that consists of healthy foods, but sit on the couch all day, you will be overweight. And in general, Americans are not an active culture in our daily life. Many of us sit at a desk all day. We drive everywhere we go. And unless we are going to a gym to work out, we are not very active. Add in the fact that many of us overeat on top of that, and well there you go.

I agree with most of this except that 3000 calories of Big Macs is going to be significantly worse than 3000 calories of fruit and veggies. Both will make you overweight but the Big Macs are going to add some extra complications.

Chain restaurants that are in both the US and Europe have different ingredients for the same products because we allow additional chemicals that Europe does not. What happened in the 70s with the food guidance helped put us down a bad trend. The "fat free" fad was terrible guidance and only lead to an increase of sugar put into our foods. Because when you take the fat out, the food becomes bland, so the only way to make it palatable is to add sugar. There's a lot of good videos/documentaries out there on youtube and netflix about sugar intake (talking about table sugar, not sugar contained in fruits). It's very bad for you, especially when consumed in the quantities that we do.
January 29Jan 29 Jerking RFK off for banning red dye and food additives while ignoring that they're an absolute conspiracy theory level loon when it comes to vaccines and basic epidemiology, is like loving the Jahan Dotson trade because he's been a great decoy for our other receivers while ignoring that he sucks ass at running routes. They don't remotely balance each other out.

I was purely speaking to the overweight/obesity aspect.
