February 2Feb 2 @The_Omega What are the purposes of the tariffs toward Canada? Don't even start with the "fentanyl" bull sheet.

Seems like some of you should be smart enough to look at a map, consider the geopolitical potentials, and figure out why he's doing what he's doing. Especially given that you are convinced that the earth continues to warm. Explain it to us. Please be sure to use as much detail as possible.

There are many other ways to improve parameters without attacking friends. We’re not "destroying” anything we’re pressuring them into finally taking security seriously, and to quit leaving US open to a slow motion invasion. This will do nothing more than lead to a new security pact that stretches to the Noth Pole. Couple it with the critical emphasis on the Panama Canal and it’s obvious that we’re trying to fortify our side of globe against the expansionist plans of our rivals. You may think it unnecessary, or overkill, but it’s a far more serious plan than throwing unlimited amounts of money away and hoping that things go back to the way they were.

Dude, what are you smoking? Trump wants that giant ice sheet to drill for oil and other natural resources. No one is gonna attack the U.S. from Greenland (or anywhere else for that matter).

I don't think of it as unnecessary but it is being executed in a wildly irresponsible manner that absolutely erodes relationships and adds a level of risk that is completely avoidable and has the very real possibility of being highly damaging. Regarding your answer, are you saying that the manner in which Trump is treating Canada now is because he wants a new security pact with them? Does it also mean that you agree it has nothing to do with fentanyl?

Depending on the situation, the stick can be far more effective than the carrot.

February 2Feb 2 And after watching the Democrats pick their leadership yesterday, no one is going to give a f about what they say.

His "takes" have been a carbon copy of my loony toons father-in-law who tried to get his daughters and grandkids thrown into an imaginary anti-lib FEMA camp. They're both beyond help. Trump could destroy their lives and the lives of everyone they know and zuker will be crawling over people in the public library just so he can post in CVON about how much he's winning because of Trump.
February 2Feb 2 Hysterics cried the same nonsense during his 1st term, but what happened? European countries finally stepped up and started meeting their financial obligations to NATO, for their own security.
February 2Feb 2 Trump’s posturing will lead to Pierre, which will lead to cooperation. Maybe log off for a while and let the inevitable play out.

Yes there is a time for a stick. Now is not the time to use a stick with Canada. All he can come up with as a reason is "fentanyl" which is ludicrous. Are you suggesting that Trump can't control our borders? Heck the wall is a better idea than a tariff war.
February 2Feb 2 4 minutes ago, The_Omega said: Maybe log off for a while and let the inevitable play out. I'll do you one better. I'll tell you exactly how this is going to end... Trump will eventually capitulate after achieving nothing other than negatively impacting the US and global markets. He'll quietly sue for peace and leaders around the world will allow Trump take things back to the way they were before he was elected with maybe some negligible change that Trump can use to save face. Then you'll be in here screeching about how Trump is so amazing and secured a new, more favorable trade deal while ignoring both the immediate and lasting socioeconomic impacts of engaging in a global trade war. How do I know this? He did the same exact thing his last term. We'll all end up exactly where we are now except you'll have inserted an inch more Trump dick trying to convince everyone how everything has changed for the better. And this is all assuming Trump has enough brains cells left to back down before he burns the country down around him.

Why would we open ourselves up to that when we can work our neighbor to secure it at the northern edge of North America? Our foolish arrogance has already let our chief rival get a foothold at a critical point down south.

No reason to jerk about.
