A LOT of the blame goes to local politics (for example, how absurd workers comp is there) for the failure that is AC. To flip it on his head.... if he were a good business man, he probably could have made his properties successful. Ocean did an amazing job restructuring debt (happened about a year or two after they bought and rebranded Revel) to survive. That's because they brought someone in who actually knows wtf they were doing to consult them, otherwise they would have likely shut their doors as well.

You mean if they're trailer-dwelling, meth-hitting, cousin-shagging white MAGAs. For everyone else it's due to internalized and institutional historic trauma combined with the weight of a exclusionary, micro-aggressive media. Duh!

You don't end up president unless you're good at marketing. I listen to him talk and say "That's a damn idiot" but somehow it gets the people going

I don't want to buy another car for at least 10 years but think I might be due on the older one before that.

Nah, it's a perfectly valid take considering the debt he took on to build it and his failure to see how oversaturated AC had already become.

February 4Feb 4 Quote "20 years ago, Autism in children was 1 in 10,000. NOW IT’S 1 in 34. WOW! Something’s really wrong. We need BOBBY!!! Thank You! DJT,” Trump wrote on Truth Social." Trump post a couple hours back

It is a lazy take to just claim trump bankrupted casinos. The non-lazy look into how it happened will lead you to see he was born rich, got into a business with an all but guaranteed 10% profit (regulated by a 90% return to player requirement) over promised profits to get money from investors, spent the money elsewhere for himself, didn’t put all the invested money where he was supposed to, underpaid partners and contractors, skimmed off the top to the point he couldn’t even make interest payments on his loans. At one point his daddy fraudulently sent a lawyer to buy 3.3 million in chips from his casino and never cashed them back in so trump could make interest payments. Then when the market took a downturn his mismanagement couldn’t sustain and he left everyone else holding the bag. When asked during his 2016 campaign about his failed casinos, he just talked about how profitable it was for him. Complete disregard for the money others lost, that he conned out of them. Stamp bankrupt on it and walk away. That’s the art of the deal, that’s how he operates.

Most casinos take on almost a billion in debt to be built only to file bankruptcy a year later? Sure thing, fella. Now time for you to go run home and high five your trumpbot wife again over your big victory. The Trump Taj Mahal opened for business in April 1990. "We've broken every record," Trump told CNN's Larry King at the time. "You're seeing numbers that nobody's ever seen before. It's a great building." The Taj Mahal brought in enormous piles of money that summer. But when the cold winds of October came, the casino missed its first debt payment. By 1991, the Taj Mahal was in bankruptcy court. https://www.npr.org/2016/10/10/497087643/the-analyst-who-gambled-and-took-on-trump Already more than $3.8 billion in the hole and sliding perilously close to a mammoth personal bankruptcy, the brash New York developer had no choice but to accept the dismantling of his vast holdings. Atlantic City was already booked beyond capacity in one-armed bandits, roulette wheels and blackjack tables before he opened the Taj in April 1990. Instead of drawing more gamblers to the seedy little gambling haven 2 1/2 hours south of New York City, the Taj has cannibalized patrons from other Atlantic City casinos, including Trump’s own. https://time.com/archive/6717640/trump-trips-up/

Just pointing out that quite a few AC casinos have failed and there are a LOT of factors as to why. And some casinos, who have had good leadership (one who schmoopie knows personally) has thrived. It is interesting to point out that the two of the three properties he built are still standing today under new ownership (Hard rock and Golden nugget) while other buildings have been abandoned or imploded. The Trump Marina, now Golden Nugget, is on a really nice piece of land where you can have dinner and watch boats come in and out, not something you get on the main strip. And the Taj Majhal was meant to be over the top in size and decadence, so it's not surprising Hard Rock took it over.

That's a big scary number!!!!! Oh, Revel took out 2.4 billion to build their luxury hotel, almost a full billion MORE than the Taj with inflation adjusted dollars? In that same super duper saturated market and marketed to directly compete with Borgata? Weird. You spent 0 time doing business in AC and have no experience with the local politics there. But keep googling dude, maybe one day you'll pass it off as actual knowledge.

Much like how hotels in Vegas have been demolished to make way for bigger, grander hotels throughout the years, AC has seen the same with lesser hotels. The fact that the location\design of two of them didn't suffer the same fate as Showboat which is now a water park, or the sands, atlantic club, and atlantis which were just abandoned\imploded shows some vision. Got to love tiny tool. He needs this so bad.
