Well, he’s not wrong here.  Social security is 100% a Ponzi scheme.  Without a doubt.

The $115B has been reviewed in full detail and the actual savings is about $35B.  Also, the 115 number hasn't been changed in over three weeks.  Finally, if you look at the itemized list you'll find that approx. 40% of the items show zero savings (DOGE's own numbers).

That's where we are now after two months.

btw - Nothing wrong with savings 35B per se.

who cares

Social Security is the very definition of a Ponzi scheme

I also love how TDS, and I guess we'll have to start calling it MDS, now makes people think there is actually nothing in the govt that is wasteful or overreaching.

All these same people proudly called themselves libertarians a few short years ago.

Now they cry endlessly when someone is actually trying to make our govt more efficient and cost effective.

Are you not interested in DOGE being successful?

Not a single person in here has said there is no waste or overreach. In fact, everyone has agreed there is plenty of it.

Except every time Musk sneezes you all cry and pretend babies and seniors are going to be thrown in front a firing squad.

The Dems trying to be the champion of the common man is peak hilarity.

This party needs to be relegated to the dumpster of history.  A fake, LARPing party full of angry theatre kids who never accomplished anything and tried to run the country in secret behind a dementia patient and bimbo.

What I'm not interested in is the left's chronic whining over how exactly they calculate the savings.  While the government may be legally obligated to pay many of the contracts they've already cancelled, the contracts now won't auto renew.  I still call that savings and so would any reasonable person.

The point is, that no matter how they calculate the "savings" people like you are going to find ways to discount it.

This is for all of you who say, "you can't run government like a business".  This is what happens when you run it like the government.

Sure they did.

You think these contracts are like Netflix subscriptions?

If Musk would stop doing/saying really stupid things then he'd get a lot more support for his work to find waste.  Alas, it appears the optics of allegedly finding waste are more important to him and to Trump than the rooting out of actual waste.

You're making my argument for me.  You simply don't care whether there is real savings or not.

lol yeah "whining" like criticizing them for claiming they saved $8 billion on a contract when in reality it was $8 million.....

Nowhere even close to what I said.

You post things like this and then accuse everyone else of regurgitating MAGA talking points.  So fragile.  So predictable.

The onus is on Musk here and so far his boasting has been proven to be highly inaccurate.  Every large item he has gone and yelled about has proven to be incorrect, e.g. SS payment claims, $8B which turned out to be $8M.  I know he said he would be incorrect at times but you'd think he'd get a few of the large items right at some point.

He's continuing on so maybe he'll actually come up with something that will make a real significant impact.  So far, he's made a lot of noise and found peanuts from a relative perspective.  You have to wonder if he's even made a net positive contribution at this stage when you consider the negative effects due to his chosen methods.

Fun anecdote. One of my brother's colleagues recently had all of his research funding frozen.  He studies the genetic mechanisms of animals adjusting to acute chemical stressors in their habitat. It was flagged because he used the term "acclimate" his papers titles and abstracts.

But go on.  Go ahead and tell me about how this is all just part of the process and not just a bunch of dopes typing in "climate" "environment" "black" "trans" "immigrant" into a search functions and just blindly cutting whatever pops up.
