Brain damaged trumpbot: "I'm glad Trump was elected so he can finally balance the budget."

Same brain-damaged trumpbot: "Of course he's not gonna balance the budget, that would be political suicide!"

Oh gee, I wonder what may have given them that impression. You think being indistinguishable from Bernie Sanders on all fiscal policy matters might've been the culprit? :lol:

Ha.  I can't wait to hear lifelong democrats like you rail against the teardown of things like the military industrial complex....because TRUMP!

:lol: Yep, that's me and sure, Trump is totally gonna make all these cuts, you guys. He's totally gonna do it because he's really smart and who knew the budget could be so complicated anyway!

Soooo...if he does, you will or you won't support it?  just want to make sure we're all on record here.

I remember one of Trump's first "scandals" from his first term. He proposed cutting a grant that funded something like 1% of Meals on Wheels' budget. Libtards in here freaked out about it, the media was all over it for weeks. So yeah, significant cuts to any wasteful federal spending will have these people shaking with fear and rage for days. It's going to be a fantastic four years. :lol:

I can't wait for the left's meltdown when PBS gets thrown into the wood chipper.

I've said so many times that people are far too reliant on SSI as it is, and I would 1000% support an initiative to allow people to opt out of it for their children. For example, I would gladly continue to pay into SS until I retire without me ever getting any income from it, if it means my kids never have to pay into it at all for their lifetime.

The whole energy in this thread is hilarious anyway.

Right wingers: Oh nice, frivolous federal spending has long been a problem and DOGE could help identify and eliminate hundreds of billions of wasteful government excess. That's good.

Libtards: REEEEE, what!!!? You mean you don't think Trump is going to instantly solve 90 years of government mismanagement and completely eliminate the deficit ushering in a new golden age where the federal government runs at a surplus? I bet you feel pretty stupid for not voting for the party directly responsible for implementing all the insolvent entitlements that are currently ravaging the budget.

:lol: Sesame Street is in your crosshairs?

Let's cut the billions first, huh? Why do I get the feeling Elon and team will make a long a** list of programs getting cut that will amount to a few hundred million and people will be happy?

Wouldn't surprise me.  Democrats have made it near impossible to fire any government employee due to public sector unions and various other workplace protections.  Even now, Biden is adding more protections like this to make it harder to make meaningful cuts.

I'm glad you guys have this line fired off and ready to go when nothing comes of this.

The programming logic of the gen1 trumpbot is exceedingly simple:

if Trump == Succeeds:

   credit = Trump

elif Trump == Fails:

   blame = Democrats

Oh, I see.  So, if DOGE doesn't accomplish it's goals it MUST be because it's leadership (who also happen to be two of the smartest people on the planet) are incompetent fools and not because the left has very publicly built protections into the government in order to protect their bureaucracy.

How could they not accomplish their goals if they are two of the smartest people in the world?

Look, I'm not a fan of Donald Trump. Not at all. But there's a reason that SS is called the third rail of politics -- touch it and you die. Would I like to see someone elected who has the guts to actually do what is necessary and drastically cut Social Security, Medicare, Medicaid and Obamacare? Of course. But that person wouldn't be electable, and even if he was elected POTUS, Congress would never go along.

This is why passing massive, unsustainable entitlement programs was such a debacle. Once people get used to the largess, it can't be removed. Add on that with SS and Medicare people believe they've been "paying into the system" and are owed the benefits - no one told them they were Ponzi schemes.

@The Norseman is right -- blame FDR and LBJ for starting these programs. There's  0.0% chance of any politicians now having the courage to reform or eliminate them. Of course, we could as least stop adding more...

Uh...I can say this about a fellow Indian.

Up until Trump, Social Security was made into a political hot potato by Democrats.  Politicians messed with it at their own peril.  Trump went so far at one point to say that Biden was going to destroy social security, which was laughable, and infuriated fiscal conservatives...because it suggested that Trump was in support of the defunct program.  So, sadly, we do agree. The program will likely not be altered in any way that would affect payouts due to the political capital that would be required to do so.

I do hold out some hope that a wildcard like Trump, with a conservative majority might be our only chance to make these changes, but it would have to be at the end of his term and I doubt he'd have enough of the legislature behind him to push it trough.

Trump is in support of social security.  Did you read his quote I posted in which he demanded that the GOP not take away a single penny from SS funding?
