It may very well be the case that the software itself has exception handling for anyone above a certain age in the database. That would be a very normal thing to do in situations where the data gets old and out of hand as the alternative would be a massive and hugely costly attempt to "cleanup the data". Older legacy type software is absolutely chock full of exception handling and particularly when it comes to an old government based software stack. In other words, this discovery of funky data tells us nothing at all about actual payments. All it tells us is that there is funky data. Anyone who has any remote understanding of how these types of systems function would have been able to tell you that there will be massive issues in these old databases.
February 18, 2025Feb 18 DOGE has posted information now. Go to their website doge.gov and then click on "Savings". Scrolling down you'll see a long list of line items which DOGE says are cancelled contracts. You can either choose to see the full contract amount or the savings. If you click on savings mode and scroll you'll see that maybe 35% of the items give exactly 0 in savings. None the less the savings are claimed to represent 55B in total savings. Of course we won't be told when contracts are renewed but that's another story. I spent 10 mins and skimmed thru the list and clicked on a few which gives you a bit more info. There are quite a few that have to do with things like DEI training and DEI services. I'm 100% in agreement to get rid of those. In addition, there are quite a few that are for subscriptions to things like the Wall St Journal, Politico Pro, etc. which are obviously tools that analysts would actually need (likely or quite possibly) to use in their jobs. These types of items would need a review and discussion before just canceling in my mind. The push back will be that they can be "added back". 55B is nothing in the large scheme of things. We shall see what else can get done and how much of it comes back. In any case, we aren't any close to closing the deficit at this point. edit: btw - There is no timeline associated with this potential 55B in savings.

I'd say the fact that this is all that has been posted initially means we'll never get to 55 billion (let alone 2 trillion).
February 18, 2025Feb 18 The only way to close the defecit is to reduce the insane spending. But based on the TDS raging over DOGE just barely skimming off the top layer, I can't even imagine if they actually made legit cuts. It will take years of conditioning for people to understand how much of our money the fed govt blatantly pisses away for nothing. All your heads would explode because you've been programmed to believe the fed govt must be a central figure in all of our lives. DOGE is the logical first step to reverse this nonsense

I would tend to agree and the onus is on Musk to actually explain the savings with detail. The info they've posted so far is just a piece of the story. The mere fact that they don't give a time frame for the savings is enough to open the questions. There is also no justification offered as to why any particular item listed deserves to be cut and that is an absolute must.

We can be happy with the removal of some sheety cost items but the deficit is going to rise considerably over the next four years. All this noise and chaos is simply the cover for the massive power grab that Trump and Project 2025 are implementing.
February 18, 2025Feb 18 Watching the Dems absolutely melt down, go full panic and denial mode over their chosen leaders being outed for robbing the American people blind for years, is the most satisfying thing ever. You chose these thieves then buried your head in the sand when they bent you over. Now you look like f'ing nut huggers to the people that F'd this country over for years. Every one of you that makes a post defending them or showing outrage that they are being investigated, should be ashamed. Personally, I think you are ashamed. Embarrassed by your own kind. But you are dug in so deep against the orange man at this point, that no matter how much mud is on your face, you cannot change course. You guys remind me of the Dukes from Trading Places. You got caught cheating. But you'll keel over and die before admitting fault or even accepting it. Or you'll fight and argue even after the final bell rings. You all look stupid. And I'm loving every post you make. Keep it up asshats. And don't forget....
February 18, 2025Feb 18 OK Capt. Whatever you say. The rest of us are stupid if we don't support the snake oil salesman. Guess we will find out soon enough who has mud on their face. I feel so many are radicalized into a cult. To quote Doc above "All this noise and chaos is simply the cover for the massive power grab that Trump and Project 2025 are implementing." Keep believing though and Go Birds!!

Imho, you are the one that should be ashamed by allowing Trump and his idiots to completely destroy everything good the country has stood for simply because you want to "own the libs". Reagan is rolling over in his grave right now.
February 18, 2025Feb 18 Can any of the "soft power" smooth brains tell us how much soft power we acquired by sending millions to an NGO that teaches Afghan women about toilet art? Thanks in advance!
February 18, 2025Feb 18 Musk is the same clown the retweeted a scene from a movie that was passed off as an actual current event. Musk is also the same clown that said he would be wrong at times, and invited everyone to roto root his colon on a daily basis, yet cult members just eat every turn he feeds them and queef when he is questioned. No one here cares if the Dems are investigated for fraud, we just realize that they don’t own the market on earmarks, fraud, or increasing their worth while in office. Investigate them all.

And you literally haven't stopped queefing since it started. "Oh no, some DOGE employees might not have the appropriate level security clearances, this is a constitutional crisis!"
