Either way, we will witness a constitutional crisis in the near future and all the "strongmen” will still not understand what is about to happen.

They will cheer him now, but when the "good guys” in their long Trenchcoats come for them, they will finally grasp what has happened.

At some point they will finally realize he's taken them for a ride as they lose jobs, lose services, and the deficit grows.  He'll manage to blame others for a time.

Yes, though I don't think SCOTUS will end up being the issue.  They will accept to take key cases that will bubble up to them and they will vote against Trump's power grab on many of those.  The real question is if MAGA/Trump comply with the rulings or not.  If they don't then that will be the moment we actually hit the Constitutional crisis moment.

Right. SCOTUS only gets the cases that trickle up to them from the lower courts. First, there needs to be a challenge to what Trump/DOGE is doing. Until then the executive does assume a great deal of power. Nobody has wielded it as recklessly and dangerously to our country as Trump has done.

Congress also has the power to check the executive. So far they have been unable/unwilling to do so.

Trump trying to save our tax dollars and you cry.  Trump ending meaningless wars, more tears.

Worthy to note that the biggest TDSers are all the former libertarians who just a few short years ago would have absolutely cheered for a DOGE and someone like Musk helping manage the outrageous bureaucratic trash our govt has become.

The proper way to conduct an audit is examine and review the statements, policies, and procedures. Make an assessment, make recommendations, and work with the agencies. DOGE has done none of that. They went in with a sledgehammer and gutted the place out. There will be repercussions.

There are some cases underway but it will take time.

The current Congress will not do anything.

Let me try this one more time for you and I promise to keep it very simple, "see Spot run" levels.  We are ALL in support of a proper review and audit of how the govt spends money.  That is NOT what the DOGE team is doing.

Right.  The "libertarians" here would be so much happier if we cut spending the way we always have before.  We have to bring in auditors and wait for their multi year review to be completed.  We then must slam on the brakes every time a frivolous legal challenge arises about mis-gendering on a .gov website and we must sit in idle until these countless appeals are decided.  By the time the first cut is ready to be made, Democrats will be back in power and the spending firehose will be turned on again.

Why don't you you guys get it??!!

Haven't there already been court challenges to DOGE?

So then you'd say it is a revolution, correct?  If you're saving the country it isn't breaking the law.  Is that it?

Yes. But it takes time to work their way up to SCOTUS. Until then the executive can wield a great deal of power.

You say you want a revolution? When you talk about destruction you can count me out.

If they're ignoring lower court rulings, which appears to be the case, then I'd hope to see the pace accelerate towards SCOTUS.

The question is if/when they'll actually follow the law.

Part of the problem is that in most cases the WH has lost and so they are ones that would be doing the appealing.  That means the courts need to step in and escalate which did just happen with a couple of cases.  There are two now up at SCOTUS level.  One about funding that Trump has cut off and not restored even though the court has ruled that the funds must be distributed.  The other has to do with a firing of a federal employee which a court has found to be unconstitutional.

Discretionary spending has been falling every year.

Why don't you get it that this is all theatre for you fools?

This is not about cutting spending, it's about punishing higher education and scientific research institutions that Musk blames for his trans daughter.

In going after research funding they're literally targeting the only government spending that has positive ROI, creating an entirely new oversight apparatus (despite all of this spending and research already being public and transparent) because some tiny percentage goes to "DEI".

But a lot of that funding goes to universities, so it's in the cross hairs for Musk and you morons who keep falling for Trump's marketing rhetoric and ignoring what's actually happening.

not one trumper would be celebrating any of this if it happened two years ago. especially with a foreign born fruitloop making the decisions for america.

again, if doge it was really going to cut things and get the ball rolling, it should've started with congress.

Welp, you voted for him so I guess you are enjoying Trump now

Anyone care to give a coherent argument as to WHY we should be cutting NOAA/NWS staff (agencies already understaffed)??  Anyone???  Is cutting the very people that run the weather models used by both the government AND the private sector at all a good idea??  This is bat sh!t crazy now!!!

Waste, corruption, and fraud.

BTW, let's throw out that Verizon contract for the FAA system and give it to StarLink.

when does doge look into the space force?

Nice job going breathlessly parabolic.  For someone who identifies as a libertarian, you sure sound like a liberal.

If the Supreme Court rules against the administration they will abide and reverse course. There is no constitutional crisis here.

also, can we audit doge to see how money is being spent by them to get these super-duper savings?
