March 15, 2025Mar 15 I love how you supposed patriots are like "an elected president should be able to do whatever he wants." When real Patriots in this country quite literally founded it fighting against that exact sentiment.

Every president running for office has talked illegal immigration, waste cutting, etc. to get elected or re elected and have basically done nothing. What I can't believe is that everyone doesn't have a problem with bloat and obvious wasted money that is taken from us. Is it a ripple like "the teaparty", the occutard movement, or blm? Again, I don't know but this has been coming in one form, shape, or another. Neither political party is entirely enamored with it and I consider that a positive. In my view it's being addressed. It hasn't been two months, we'll see how it shakes out. You’re not undecided, you’re brain dead. There’s no cure. I’m sorry.

Do you have any concerns about the methods used in an attempt to deal with the bloat and waste and are you concerned that parts of the baby may be thrown out with the bath water?

I'm a firm believer in the swinging pendulum theory. What "babies" are we speaking of? Are these "babies" you're questioning irrevocably lost or just inconvenienced? For you: Considering the headwinds, do you feel the Trump administration would get the results he was looking for if he took something off of his swing of the hammer? I would argue that the answer is no. He spent a term working against the same opposition and has had a four year layover to think about strategy. If there was one thing I disagree with him on its his tariff strategy. Quit going back and forth and just do it.

Let's just start with the balance of powers. It might not be perfect but it has served us well. The bottom line is the country has been the most successful, prosperous, and powerful nation in history. Surely a level of care and caution should be taken with any significant changes. Headwinds - I suppose it depends on what results you are talking about and what timeframe. I'm not seeing any signs at all regarding budget balancing, for example. Immigration, on the other hand is something he's had some success with to date. A good example of where he's moving too fast is with so called "DEI" where he is swinging the pendulum too hard/fast.

No one can disagree that "the country has been the most successful, prosperous, and powerful nation in history." At least not being taken seriously in attempting to do so. That said the representative and executive branches of the federal government need a refocusing to maintain that standard. Defense, infrastructure, trade and how to fund it. That’s their job. Illegal immigration is by far his biggest success in the first 60 or so days. Too earlier to tell how it will look in 4 years or if congress is willing to back it up with legislation. A Supreme Court ruling on the 14th will help or hurt. The budgets, cuts, and realignments won't show any meaningful results one way or the other for sometime. He has four years. No more, no less. I actually believe the states should be controlling and taking responsibility for more of what goes on within its borders. State and local officials are far more accountable than thise holed up in DC. Want more? Accept higher taxes. State taxes should actually be higher than federal taxes depending on the want and whim of the inhabitants. The federal SALT subsidy is BS. We'll just have to disagree on DEI initiatives and likely a few others. There again better handled at the state level.

The "you can't legislate morality" crowd sure wants a lot of legislation.😄 Most of this is cyclical and the inception generation (boomers) are on their way out. They had their cross dressing, androgeny phase back in the 70's. This cycle is just their passing of the torch before they fade away. I'm looking forward to the impending 80's cycle. Most of it. Some of it might kill me now.

You aren’t entering the 80s mate. You are entering the 30s albeit in a much accelerated fashion, and no I’m not talking about Notzees.
