Super Bowl LIX lead up: Chiefs vs Eagles February 9, 2025

Okay guys so HOW DO WE BEAT THE CHIEFS?

No matter how big or small your understanding of football is, I want to hear what you think we need to do on offense, defense, special teams, and coaching to dethrone the Chiefs.

Looks like we are dogs.  To take down AR/PM and the standing champs.  And Taylor Swift.  And the league.  Very Philly-esque.  Watched Invincible again last night by coincidence so am feeling inspired.  We just have to keep the faith.

We beat them last year and we are a much improved team especially on defense and they are the same... Their wrs don't worry me their rbs don't worry me... Kelce is still decent but he's closer to the end of his career... Their defense will be an issue depending on how Dickerson and Jurgens are... Chris Jones is a beast... If the Eagles play mistake free football and the refs don't screw us over I can't see us losing... GO BIRDS!

already prepping for gameday, perfected my cheesesteak recipe, got my new lot of merch coming.

I just feel it, were getting our revenge this year.

Defense-stop the run with 4. Contain on the edges. Keep 2 high and allow Q and Slay to use outside leverage. No prevent no matter what, even up 3 scores. Use the umbrella and keep it in front. Tighten it up to the LOS intermittently (that is above my pay grade on when but they sure seemed to know when to get up close in the last game).  GREAT use of personnel and space.  Impressive AF, actually.

Assume they will be in hurry up. They may not be but you have to be ready for it conditioning wise.  May not be time to get the big bodies in and out.  Be ready for that.

I don't have a feel for blitzing Mahomes. I think not, though. Push the middle HARD and contain the edges. SQUEEZE it closed. Don't shoot in from the edges. Doubt Huff sees the field lol.

Offense-Run, run and run some more.  LOVED the pop plays and misdirection stuff.  Heavy Goedert. Loved that. Take the training wheels off of Hurts but emphasize quick quick quick.  Be ready to diagnose and respond to the blitzes that will come repeatedly from all over.  Give Hurts time to diagnose at the LOS (not just because of the blitzes but so he can do what he, the line and Barkley have done all year long.) So call the plays early. Mix in chunks of hurry up.  We just seem to get in rhythm that way.

Specials-Elliot on KOs and put a hat on the KO and punt returners. Working really well. No FGs over 45 no matter what.  Stupid. He can't hit them. Stop it. Punt.  Don't just go, stop and punt.  PUNT.  Play to OUR strength, which is the D forcing them to drive.  If he misses an XP, don't do it again.  Go for 2 every time after that. F it.

Intangibles-Be disciplined.  You can tell from the AJ fracas they are well aware of the need to avoid being baited into penalties. Now go remind Carter that he has to keep his cool.

Weird stuff-consider NOT deferring?  Andy & Spags adjust well.  But so do we.  Rather we are on D to start the 3rd.  Just me. Just a feeling. We seem to have failed more than not to start the 3rd. But could be just my flawed recollection.

My concern is that the Eagles feast on turnovers… I don’t see KC committing any turnovers, so it will be tough.

I'm not in favor of this. I ALWAYS want the ball to start the 3rd. It's the only chance to double up, and I much rather get the first crack at cutting the lead, taking the lead, or expanding the lead. I've seen the Birds play in 3 Super Bowls now, and in all 3, the Eagles kicked off to start the 3rd, and in all 3, the Pats twice, and KC all scored TDs to open the 3rd quarter. Aside from BG's strip sack, their 2nd half defenses in the past 3 Super Bowls has been terrible.

Starting the countdown. 13 days

Hopefully that won't be the case this time. This defense is too good

Did we go three and out last game and the one before to start the 3rd?  That's where I was going with it.

Didn't realize we kicked to start the 2nd half in all 3 of our more recent SBs. So yeah, F that. Now I want the ball, lol.

Feels like the D is clicking nicely.  I think we get some outs in the 2nd half this time.

Blitzing Hurts has always been incredibly effective. It works in every Buccaneers game, and showed in the Commanders game.

Now we're facing a DC who undoubtedly has the most creative and exotic blitz packages in football.

This game will be won or lost by how Jalen responds to the blitz because they're absolutely coming.

This is the problem.

Moore and co gonna have to earn their money

Despite all the bad calls, lets realize that the Bills played almost a perfect game and still lost.

They largely shutdown the running game.

They won the TO battle.

But somehow Mahomes still found a way to score 32 points and win. Those scrambles killed them. I think this game is going to come down to a few calls here and there.

Found this comment on some Niners video:

I hate KC but I much rather they get their three-peat than the Eagles do what we couldn't. If we lost our rematch then they should too. Eagles winning would make last year even worse

I just hope Eagles win to piss off the Whiner fans.

Remember, deep down inside, she's one of us.  It's in her DNA.

Mandela effect? I could've sworn I remember people being mad at Akers for the missed FG being the difference.  Maybe it was an NFCCG? Could've sworn it was the SB though.  Or i'm just getting old and my memory is playing tricks on me, that can be true too I suppose.

Wild card vs GB in 2010. He missed 2 and we lost by 5 iirc

I would love to do what Tampa did, but keep in mind, Mahomes was missing both starting tackles that game. That makes a huge difference.

Haven't they been working w at least 1 back up tackle majority of the yr?

Am I the only one thinking that we are going to absolutely abuse KC? I think we win by no less than 12 points.

@LeanMeanGM

You will hate me for doing this, but...

I have the same feeling I did before Minn where I'm worried and pissed off that they will fall short to a dynasty yet again, but also a strange feeling they will win anyway. This team hasn't given us any reason to doubt them. Our last SB win was in a dome, so maybe that's our thing?

When you go down the roster there aren't many Chiefs you'd take over Eagles. They have good lines, but the Eagles are better. They've never faced a defense like the one coming and I don't give a F about that Vic has never beaten Mahomes crap. Those teams didn't have Carter and that secondary. They didn't have Baun and CJ. One team needs the refs to continually bail them out and the other beats teams up. Which one would you want to face? Especially, when one team just dished out revenge to the tune of 55 points. They remember what happened 2 years ago, but things have changed, and the Eagles are going to be fired up and ready. They owe them an ass kicking.

For two weeks we are going to hear nothing but things like they don't have a chance against the GOAT with a backup QB. The Eagles will hear it and save receipts.

This is going to be ugly, we are all going to hate life at times, but when that clock hits zero it's going to be raining green this time.
