Enjoying the show and think they can take it so many different ways moving forward

It's a good watch but you sort of wish they'd have committed to being either an acid commentary on rich people collecting crap they don't need, a moody crime caper or a drama about family and friendship, it tries to wear too many hats and ends up half assing all of them.

It's been structured so they can cut it at one season if needs be so they've absolutely turbo speedran in 'the being a criminal always ends badly' arc when it would've been better with a slow burn over a couple of seasons, the cops making decisions with evidence that even I as a layman can see are legally questionable is also problematic.

It is hella watchable though.

I've been pretty neutral on Seth Rogen but The Studio is a grand slam. Also 1st time I felt like Apple TV produced a true 10/10.

Anyone check out murderbot yet? Started it last night and I'm digging it

Same. It's pretty good

The camera work makes me motion sick but otherwise it’s a great show.

Stick - Cliche and predictable, but still very good, very enjoyable.

Feels like happy Gilmore but from

Chubbs perspective

Stick is OK so far but as zuke said very predictable - could see the budding romance between the mom and old grumpy caddie from a mile away. The kid golfer and the weird girl

are annoying too.

They don't really have a lot of content. Wonder if they're looking into getting Wheel of Time. They seem to have no issue putting money into the content they have

Anyone else watching Smoke? Taron Egerton and Jurnee Smollet star, but there are great characters all through this show. The dude that plays the milk jug arsonist is amazing - should get an Emmy nod for his work. Taron is wonderfully psychotic as well. The show in unhinged in all the right ways

Chief of War looks interesting. I'll probably watch that sometime

Haven’t seen it but I’ll check it out. Taron Egerton is one of the best actors in Hollywood right now.

It was created by the same dude that did Black Bird a few years back, if you watched that (also excellent)

Smoke is absolutely great, really good performances from the whole cast and well written, but it took a pretty preposterous turn in the penultimate episode that really has me wondering if they can pull it back in the final episode Tomorrow. It wasn't a Sugar level ridiculous twist but it definitely raised a hearty "c'mon man" as it played out.

Also on Apple, I'm sort of late to it but Bad Monkey is worth a watch, Vince Vaughn playing Vince Vaughn in an easy going detective caper, it whiles away a few hours without ever being too demanding or offensive, could've used some bewbs honestly but a good watch nonetheless, they've green lit a second season for it anyway.

Chief of War is getting compared to Shogun. You really only see the comparison in I think the 2-3 episode

Spoiler

Though Shogun's display of the cultural learning step was slower and more detailed and Chief of War was rushed. He's already speaking and interacting with the locals

You talking about her throat punching the captain and watching him die? Then trying to frame Gudsen? Yeah he has an alibi for that so not sure how this is going to go

Yeah watched the finale and they just didn't really deal with it at all, sort of set up a hook for a second season, but just glossed over the big incident from the penultimate episode and none of the characters really mentioned the glaring issues after the initial reaction.

I agree - they just went totally off the rails in the last two and threw the plot out the window completely

Been thinking more about this - and I think we knew this wasn’t a plot driven show, but I think they left it ambiguous on purpose.

Spoiler

The case against Dave was weak even with the evidence they found at the end there. This was more about him and Caldarone coming to terms with who they were. It was kinda silly but brilliant at the same time. The acting was absolutely stellar though.

I just finished the 6th episode and I can’t believe how good this show is. I admit when I saw the original plotline, my first thought was, "Wow. Some knob that investigates fires. What happens at the end? They put it out?” 😂

The acting is amazing. I wish we saw Smollett’s boobs though. 😩

But I think you can do both, and you can certainly wrap it up better than the half arsed scarcely believable last episode. I agree wholeheartedly on the acting not a bum performance from any of the cast, even minor characters were rock solid, but...

Spoiler

Caldarone killing the captain (for little more than being a **** at that). You can't just let that slide, or at least not like they did it, with Esposito basically saying but we know where Dave was last night and it wasn't there, then immediately letting it go and that was it, the ATF agent said nothing at all. it just stretched the suspension of disbelief too thin, I have no doubts that Cops do sometimes cut corners to get bad guys, but go along with a frame when the crime is cop killing?

Platonic - This season has been pretty stinking funny. The golf scene was hysterical.

This is the funniest show streaming right now. Such awkward humor. 😂

Smoke was amazing. The way they ended it was insane.

Is it just me, or is Foundation the dumbest show of all time? I know a bunch of you dorks probably love it, but I can’t get into it. I watched the entire 1st season and started the 2nd. Character development over the span of hundreds of years, especially when the rulers have either died or transitioned, is super compelling. 🙄
