eaglesfan0075 Posted February 22 Posted February 22 Based on the feedback given in response to Mock Offseason 1.0, here is Mock Offseason 2.0! The Eagles have now filled out their vacant OC and pass game coordinator positions with Kevin Patullo and Parks Frazier respectively, so no projections for coaching hires here. Effective Cap Space Including Rookie Signings - $13.8 million per OverTheCap Re-sign: LB Zach Baun (4 yr / $40 mil contract, backloaded, $4 mil cap) DE Milton Williams (4 yr / $ 48 mil contract, backloaded, $6 mil cap) CB Isaiah Rodgers (2 yr / $6 mil contract, backloaded, $1.5 mil cap) LB Oren Burks (vet min, $1 mil cap) LS Rick Lovato (vet min, $1 mil cap) Let Walk - Josh Sweat, Mekhi Becton, Avonte Maddox, Kenny Gainwell, Britain Covey, Ian Book, Parris Campbell, Nick Gates, C.J. Uzomah, Le’Raven Clark, Jack Driscoll, Fred Johnson, Ben VanSumeren Release - Byron Young, Tristan McCollum, Lewis Cine Retire - Brandon Graham Draft: Round 1 (32) - Nic Scourton DE Texas A&M - With Brandon Graham retiring and Josh Sweat getting a big deal in free agency, the Eagles replenish their front seven depth with Scourton. Nolan Smith was drafted to be the heir apparent to BG and Scourton has the physical tools to be the heir apparent to Josh Sweat. Round 2 (64) - Wyatt Milum OT West Virginia - Milum is a 4 year starter with experience playing both LT and RT positions at WVU. He may potentially have to move inside to guard in the NFL due to having shorter arms, but in this mock, I am keeping him at OT. The plan would be to have him as the primary backup tackle as a rookie with the goal to develop him as Lane's replacement at RT after he retires. Round 3 (96) - Xavier Truss OG Georgia - Keeping this pick from Mock 1.0. Truss has experience at both right guard and right tackle; he can serve as valuable depth at both positions while competing with Tyler Steen at RG for the starting position as a rookie. Round 4 (129) - Ricky White III WR UNLV - A former transfer from Michigan State before carving out a starting role at UNLV, White brings versatility with the ability to play both outside and slot WR positions as well as skills as a special teamer gunner given his punt blocking ability. White recorded 3 punt blocks in his career at UNLV. Round 5 (162) - Jack Kiser LB Notre Dame - Another pick I’m keeping from Mock 1.0. Experienced LB prospect who can contribute right away on special teams and also provides depth at the MIKE position with Nakobe Dean returning from injury. Round 5 (166) - Tahj Brooks RB Texas Tech - Brooks brings a power back skillset to this offense with his size at 5’10 and 230 lbs. He is rated as one of the top pass blocking backs in this draft class, which was a trait that allowed Kenny Gainwell to stay on the field a lot as a backup. Brooks adds a different dynamic that would complement the skillset of Barkley and Shipley in the backfield. Round 5 (169) - Nazir Stackhouse DT Georgia - Stackhouse would be an on-brand selection for the Eagles as they add another Georgia Bulldog to their defense. He has great size to contribute right away in our rotation as a run-stuffing DT at 6’3, 320 lbs, but needs work in developing a consistent pass rush, hence the day 3 projection. Active Roster of 53 players (Offense 25, Defense 25, Special Teams 3) Depth Chart: Offense QB - Jalen Hurts / Kenny Pickett / Tanner McKee RB - Saquon Barkley / Will Shipley / Tahj Brooks XWR - AJ Brown / Johnny Wilson ZWR - Devonta Smith / Ricky White III SWR - Jahan Dotson / Ainias Smith TE - Dallas Goedert / Grant Calcaterra / E.J. Jenkins LT - Jordan Mailata / Wyatt Milum LG - Landon Dickerson / Trevor Keegan C - Cam Jurgens / Brett Toth RG - Tyler Steen / Xavier Truss RT - Lane Johnson / Darian Kinnard Defense DE - Milton Williams / Moro Ojomo NT - Jordan Davis / Thomas Booker DT - Jalen Carter / Nazir Stackhouse LOLB - Nolan Smith / Jalyx Hunt WLB - Zach Baun / Jeremiah Trotter Jr. MLB - Nakobe Dean / Oren Burks / Jack Kiser ROLB - Nic Scourton / Bryce Huff LCB - Darius Slay / Isaiah Rodgers RCB - Quinyon Mitchell / Kelee Ringo NB - Cooper DeJean / Eli Ricks FS - Reed Blankenship / James Bradberry SS - C.J. Gardner Johnson / Sydney Brown Special Teams K - Jake Elliott P - Braden Mann LS - Rick Lovato KR - Isaiah Rodgers / Will Shipley PR - Cooper DeJean / Jahan Dotson
Rob331 Posted February 23 Posted February 23 I like your thinking but I thinnk Milton Williams will be getting an offer far beyone your thoughts. Basically, I believe its EITHER Williams or Baun, but not both. I think there's a chance (probably slim) that Becton gives us a home town discount and stays. In any event - since I think Williams won't be signable I think a DT has to be a day 1 or day 2 pick. I'm partial to LJ Sanders from South Carolina. Do you have any thought about other free agency signings? I don't think OTC has the new cap #, Bradberrt savings, or potential Slay savings figured in. Thanks for giving the board some life
Iggles25 Posted February 23 Posted February 23 I like your direction in this mock offseason. As Rob stated above, I think Milton Williams contract has a floor of at minimum $18 million/year. He probably priced himself out of Philadelphia with his Super Bowl performance. I also agree with Rob that DT TJ Sanders from South Carolina would be a great RD1/RD2 pick. Others DTs to keep in mind in that range are Walter Nolen (Ole Miss), Derrick Harmon (Oregon), and Tyleik Williams (Ohio State). I could be wrong, but in my many weeks of playing with the mock draft simulators and reading mock drafts, I think both Scourton and Milum go higher than where the Eagles pick. Would like them both by the way. Seeing Scourton anywhere from Pick 10-Pick 20 in RD1 and Millum early to mid RD2. Feel like both would require trade ups to select. On the other hand, I feel like Truss will fall to RD5 or later. Alot of mock drafts and mock draft simulators have him going RD5-RD7. He has some issues with technique that have hurt his stock. Really like him though as a RD5 target. A year in Stoutland University would do him wonders. Would like to draft a TE somewhere this year in the mid to late rounds. Goedert most likely is gone in 2026. There are some interesting prospects to be had RD4 and later. Like the idea of bringing back Rodgers and Burks too. Hopefully they come as cheap as you have advertised. Kind of hope Becton is back. Think he only improves in Year 2 of Stoutland U, especially in pass protection. Good read and food for thought!
eaglesfan0075 Posted February 23 Author Posted February 23 @Rob331 @Iggles25 Thank you both for the feedback! It's interesting you both mention Milton Williams being priced out of the Eagles range, and I originally implemented a scenario in my mock 1.0 where we lost both Josh Sweat and Williams in free agency, but were still able to keep Baun and Becton. That mock did leave a little wiggle room in cap space for an outside FA signing. In that mock, I had the Eagles sign Calais Campbell on a 1 year team friendly ring-chasing deal, assuming he was not retiring this offseason. I did come across a report that the Commanders may release Jonathan Allen as a cap casualty, and he would be a very intriguing name to watch, but of course will cost more in FA if actually released. The OTC 13.8 mil cap number is fairly low and I wouldn't be surprised if the Eagles will do a restructure othat will open up more space, but that current number does limit how active we can be in FA after re-signing our key guys, hence I placed no external FA signings in this mock. Williams is young and has potential to be even better than how he played this past season, so I can certainly envision a scenario where he's out of our range. Spotrac gave a 12 million/year salary estimate for Williams with a projected 3 yr / 36 million deal; this was the framework I used for this mock's projected 4 yr / 48 mil deal. OTC gave only a 6 million valuation, which I simply disregarded given how much of an outlier it is. I do like T.J. Sanders from South Carolina as an Eagles target in the draft, if we're going in that direction. I have seen him mocked to the Eagles in both Rnd 1 and Rnd 2, so it's a wide range of outcomes for him, but he's definitely someone I'd be happy with the Eagles landing in the draft at some point if we're drafting a DT. Nic Scourton is someone I've also seen a wide range on in the first round, but recently have seen him mocked to the Lions or Eagles at the end of Rnd 1. Jack Sawyer from that bum school in ohio is someone I can see the Eagles take at 32, if he somehow makes it past the Lions, but the bulk of these mocks have Sawyer going off the board first. Two other names I can potentially see at 32 are Sawyer's teammate, J.T. Tuimoloau, or Donovan Ezeiruaku from Boston College. I agree that Milum could also go higher than pick 64, so that may be wishful thinking and may need to look into some other names there. I've looked into Truss a bit more since you bring it up and it looks like his most recent projections have dropped him significantly as you've said, now more of a Day 3 than Round 3 prospect. He could still be a target with one of those 5th round picks, and this would open up some interesting possibilities in Round 3, perhaps even a TE? 1
Cheesteakitis Posted February 24 Posted February 24 Don’t think we are resigning Williams rest of the list I agree with.. agree the list of free agent signing will be very small if any and if they are likely players that were cut and don’t count against the comp pick formula. i like Kiser and Stackhouse in the draft I think I had both of them in my original mock, if I remember right I had stackhouse a little earlier, gonna try and hammer out another mock here soon maybe this evening.
