He was also calling Baker Mayfield "Bake" all night like they were best friends. He is an absolute clown.

Playing it safe (as proven from last game) is the only way to win consistently with Hurts at QB. He is so limited at the position that every single domino must fall perfectly in place for the offense to look semi-competent (best OL, best WR duo, best RB, a dominant TE). For those that like to forget, their passing offense sucked last year as well because of Hurts. What he did in the NFCC and Superbowl will never be forgotten, because he was actually dominant as a passer. It still doesn't make sense, but I'll take it. I was optimistic that he would build off of those dominant performances into this season, but instead he has regressed. That was clearly the exception and not the rule. These last 2 games, they clearly opened up the offensive playbook a little bit, and it completely overwhelmed Hurts. WRs running wide open, Goedert wide open on checkdowns almost every play, and Hurts once again making poor decision after poor decision. If you want to blame coaching, don't blame them for "not scheming" WRs open. They're always open. Blame them for running a normal looking offense with normal concepts which clearly overwhelm QB1.This is where people are going to believe what they want to believe and the burden of proof is very, very tricky for an interdependent entity like an NFL offense. Steichen and Moore DID catch shrapnel, at least in Philly. The offense was great in 2022 Steichen and winning the SB was great in 2024 with Moore...but neither of them had a perfectly smooth ride. One observer could say that all Hurts needs is a Steichen-level OC and the rest were a mess. Another could say that these OC's were getting HC jobs despite catching shrapnel because other organizations are well aware of their limitations in running an offense with Hurts at QB.
23 hours ago23 hr This is unknowable, but I would wager that Steichen, Moore, and Brian Johnson have all sat in interviews with other teams and discussed how they had to run this offense because of Hurts and how that diverges from the blueprint they would use, if hired, by the Colts/Saints/Commanders.
23 hours ago23 hr Patullo doesn't catch anything but getting called out for being utterly HORRIBLE at his job. The numerous examples of why have been pointed out time and time again throughout the season. The best way to see/realize just how bad he is is to simply watch other NFL games. Prime example of was a play that Tampa ran last night. They had Irving and White both in the backfield. Irving motioned and then looped around behind Baker, who faked to him and then turned where they did a counter to White. There was a hole as big as the grand canyon and they basically just schemed a 15-20 yard run. Meanwhile Patullo's answer to everything is to run the ball directly up the middle with Saquon from the same formation, with a TE who can't block as the trap guy/lead blocker. Hurts has played poorly the last few games. Monday night was one of the worst games of his career. Equating Patullo's lack of success as an OC to Hurts in an way shape or form is a LAUGHABLY bad take though.

I'm sure other teams were also blown away at their ability to improvise and shrink the playbook down to a high school level to cater to our QB that can't grasp simple offensive concepts.

It's amazing how Steichen and Moore "shrunk down the playbook to a high school level" and both seasons they were the OC the team miraculously made it to the SB and won one of them with that "high school level" offense.

I believe that all coaches and other personnel are adapting the scheme and responsibilities to the unique cocoon in which he can perform and succeed. I don't think Siri is some offensive genius or ever will be...but I also don't think a so-called offensive genius coach like Mcvay would ever tolerate Hurts as his QB. That's my opinion. I may be wrong. I don't need everyone to see it my way. I don't crave to be proven right, I'd rather just east some crow and see the offense not suck. These things have a way of gradually fading over time until no one is really proven right or wrong because the entire operation gets replaced. These guys JUST won a SB together last year. And that means it is borderline insanity to make aggressive changes besides the one new component, OC (and it's 100% certain Patullo is fired in the offseason as the fall guy). So, regrettably, I feel the Eagles are committed and locked into a 3 year slide with nothing anyone can do about it. Next year is the year a new OC with Siri as the lame duck-do-nothing HC run it back with Hurts as QB. The results will be uninspiring with Barkley/AJ/OL all a year older and worse for the wear. Then the coaching staff turns over with ANOTHER new offensive coach (this time a new HC) running it back with Hurts as a lame duck QB that the new coach with a more traditional offensive approach has minimal commitment to...and before you know it, we are already in 2028 with a new coach in year 2 and a new qb in year 1 who has a bumpy runway to learning how to play the position in the NFL. I feel like that's the road in front of this franchise and it's going to be many years before the offense really has a chance again.I'm not here to say Hurts should be benched, McKee should start or whatever. I don't agree with the premise that the next two years will be a big slide and there is nothing that can be done about it. Hurts may not be able to be traded due to the cap but he can be benched with no cap implications. It may be awkward to have a $50m a year player sitting on the bench but again, no cap implications. I refuse to believe that if Lurie/Howie feel Hurts is the problem they will just do nothing. Maybe I am giving them too much credit but I just don't believe they are willing to sacrifice the next 2-3 years because of Jalen Hurts if they feel Hurts is the problem.
22 hours ago22 hr I said it sarcastically after the game that they outgained the Chargers in total yards, which was like one of the few times we’ve outgained somebody this year. But watching it in real time at the stadium and then watching it again, I actually did think they moved more consistently than the previous 4 weeks. Their issue was they couldn’t stop turning the ball over, poor red zone and shoot yourself in the foot penalties in most in opportune time.
