17 hours ago17 hr I think it is imperative that Howie restrain himself in the offseason and avoid spending any money on offense. Every available ounce of cap space that does not go towards draft picks should go towards retaining defensive talent. And nearly every draft pick should go towards bringing in offensive talent. That means one tough decision: Goedert has to walk. This offense is too expensive for too little production and I would not risk losing any of these defensive studs to bring back Goedert to an offense that isn't going to be very good anyway. Draft a TE. Maybe draft 2. It would be my preference that the first 2 picks be OL, but have at it with TE after that. Call me absolutely crazy, but I'd even consider bringing in Ertz at the vet minimum as an early PUP candidate who is a backstop for the vet minimum if the rookies disappoint. You won't get any blocking out of him (but Goedert has fallen off big time there anyway), but he's going to run the right routes, find the soft spot in zones, and catch the football.

Mahomes needs to change his game from hero ball to drop back and dispense from the pocket like Manning/Brady/Brees. He'll be 31 next year off a repaired ACL. The acrobatic off balance throws with one DL hanging off him are over.If Mahomes can adjust and they can go all-in on fixing their OL...then they can be back very quickly. Neither of those things are guarantees though. They traded thuney which really killed the one great part of their OL. Their interior with thuney, Humphrey and smith were really good. Maybe top 3-5 in the league. Their tackle position has been a nightmare for a couple years. Frankly they were fortunate they were able to survive it in 2023 and 2024. Taylor is a walking penalty and when he isn’t penalized he gets beat. Moore should be a backup. Simmons had some family issue then got hurt. But really even if Simmons stays healthy and is good, they have a big hole at guard and RT. Reid hasn’t done a good job developing and replenishing that line. That’s their biggest flaw in offense. Even the great mahomes cannot survive OLines that aren’t good enough. It is a big reason they got crap kicked out of them in 2 SBs.

He's just not the same guy.Mahomes is an insane 14-2 with 36 TDs and 3 picks in playoff games that are not the Super Bowl. How do you reconcile that with him turning into Jameis Winston in the Super Bowl? 7 picks, 6 fumbles, 16 sacksNo way in hell can you project that Hurts will have a 2004 and 2013 pair of Manning seasons.2004 was nuts. Doing it again at age 37 with a new team was amazing.Manning has 557 career TDs and Hurts has 170.But Manning had 176 TDs through age 27. Hurts has 3 games to get 6 to tie him so far.It would be foolish to project 557 but its also foolish not to see how well he is playing so far.Hurts is winning a lot.His efficiency stats are kind of amazing (top 10 top 15 all-time all over the place)He just put up his 4th straight 30+ TD season. No other Eagles QB has 2.I hope he doesn't age like Aikman or Cam Newton.I hope he ages like Manning, Brees, or Brady. We will see.

17 hours ago17 hr Hurts played well today.Noticed some poorly placed balls. In the end, it was very few.Held the ball longer than he should have a few times, including once when he had tons of room to run and just took a sack instead. He had a successful game rushing. On ALL of his runs, he was noticeably avoiding contact. Once, old Hurts easily picks up a 1st down, but he was a little short. You can tell he really, really does not want to take hits.I still think he is protecting himself from a head injury he hasnt fully recovered from. All in all, very good game from him.Long pass to Smith, seldom used double move by Smith. DB probably sitting on a hitch or curl and Smith took off up field. Also, what really opened it up for favorable coverage was, Barkley and Shipley were both in the backfield. We have hardly ever seen that! Shipley motioned out to the play side and drew a defender up closer. Got smith 1 on 1 coverage for his double move. Success for Patullo. Good execution by Hurts and Smith. One play in the 2nd half was a nice intermediate gain to Goedert heading towards the left sideline. Hurts held the ball too long, but that play contained a crossing route!!!! I dont recall if it was Smith or AJ, and I think Hurts was waiting on that but it was well covered crossing through zones. Hurts eventually found Goedert wide open on the play. Again, good design by Patullo. All of the attention was on the crosser, and created space for Goedert deeper down field. Typically Hurts doesnt see that intermediate route. He eventually got around to it today. Thank god our OL can still pass block.Return of the shovel passes. Win for Patullo.Wide open targets for Hurts pretty much all day. Win for Patullo.Fans screamed about every no gain or loss for Barkley whether it was an inside run our an outside run. They literally have no clue what to yell at. They just want to yell at Patullo. So nice having Covey back as a returner. He even broke a tackle today!I dont know what to make of Barkley. He often looks to have all of his speed. But seems to be pressing too much to make a big run happen. He is often too tentative. Does not run hard. Goes down too easily. Obviously it was another game where Bigsby's few runs were successes. Some seemed to be blocked better. But one of them he had nothing, ran in to a wall, and squirted through for 4 tough yards. We all know he needs to mix in more. By mid season when it was abundantly clear Barkley wouldnt go for 2k again, there was no reason to make him our workhorse, with such minimal success. A few of his red zone runs... I just wished red zone is Bigsby territory. I bet we have a bunch more TDs this season if they are deployed situationally based on field position. What has gotten in to Brandon Graham? Getting in to better shape? If that is the case and he is really playing well by playoffs watch out! Also, if Carter can be better than what he has been all year, this defense will be scary good again.Offense is still more difficult than it should be. 1st drive was extended by penalty. 3rd and short and our most reliable play is a long ball which was under thrown and luckily drew a flag. There has to be a higher percentage play we can rely on than tons of 3rd and short go balls. Its a risky way to make a living in the NFL or any level. Later on that drive, Smith made a miraculous diving grab on 3rd down diving toward the sidelines. Seemed a little hurt but made the grab. Refs also spotted us short of the 1st TWICE on that same drive but one was luckily overturned by replay assist. So many times that drive nearly died. For the most part though, I only remember one 3rd and short that got backed up by a holding penalty. Something that has killed us consistently all year. This time Hurts ran it for the 1st. If the offense can just stop shooting itself in the foot with 3rd down penalties, theyll make enough plays to score more points than the other team with our defense.Today was a step forward both in penalties, and play design. Im fully back in, and on board with winning and making playoffs. With just a bit more continued improvement, this team can still win the super bowl.It was only the raiders. But maybe this was a get right game just at the right time in the season. Build on it.

His mobility and downfield running threat are already slipping and we are seeing how he struggles as a passer to compensate. The QBs that age well excel with timing and quick releases. Their games don't rely on mobility or doing anything athletic/off-balance. That's the exact opposite of Hurts.
