Not sure how much ertz has left in the tank, but yeah totally agree unless Goedert signs for peanuts cant bring him back

Whoever they bring in at TE needs to be able to block

I thunk they were hoping grandson would be a better run blocker than hes been, he was graded pretty high as a run blocker in Indy last year at least according to PFF but hes been pretty bad this year

Latu has been the best Run blocker of the group and maybe VanSumeran will be back next year to play one snap as a FB🤷‍♂️

Either way their non O line blockers this year have been awful.

I think Siri and patullo had specific plans for Vansumeran and Johnny Wilson in the run game and they both got hurt and they never really filled those roles.

We'll see but Calcaterra needs to be gone and Ive lost my patience with steen missing blicks and getting penalties every game.

If the eagles want to be a smash mouth run first team then they need to get better blockers at non O lineman positions and better run blocking OL as well.

The tight end id love to take a flyer on is okonkwo on the titans. Hes 26. He is a not a great blocker (apparently bad this year). I don’t know what he is as a receiving tight end because the Titans have been such a disaster and the quarterback play has been incredibly awful. Even if he becomes a backup tight end and we draft a TE who takes over at some point next year, it’s an upgrade over Calcaterra

Good news. I got an email back from VABeach_Eagle, he is ok. He has been tending to his mother's health as she's been in the hospital, and exhausted lately. He says he will be more available to log on

Rams-Seahawks, Packers-Bears next week

Take care of the Commanders on a weird Saturday evening game and things could start opening up again

I don't care about the 1 seed, I care about the offense not looking like a bunch of fools out there that have never played the game before. If the offense gets going, this team can win anywhere against anyone. Having a defense like this helps a lot... but there is too much talent on offense for them to have fits and starts like they do.

Interesting. Missing in the draft destroys teams.

It’s why the eagles now are more sustainable than what they were after winning in 2017. Our drafts have been much better. That said I would like us to stick to our philosophies going forward. We are a meat and potato trenches philosphy.

Frankly, I say we need an invest at wide receiver because AJ Brown is either gone next year or the year after. However I do not trust us to draft a wide receiver and nail it. Smith is the only ones since Howie came back into his role that they have drafted and developed and became good. We’ve used high picks too. Everybody else has not panned out. I would also like to see a new wide receiver coach cause I think moorehead is not a good coach.

Collinsworth: his steps are double what others are. He takes 7 steps where they take 9.

Please get this moron off my tv. These dumbarse TV execs need to understand that absolutely no one ever dials in to a game because of a broadcaster. Michaels, Collinsworth, so many of these guys need to go.

I've never watched him play...but it's interesting his scouting reports talk about his explosive traits and potential as a receiver while knocking his blocking. I think they need to get both creative and lucky with their TE personnel next year. IMO, it shouldn't be a 1st or 2nd round pick unless it is a can't-pass-up stud...so getting TE1 and TE2 out of mid round picks and the FA 1 year prove-it bargain bin will be really tricky. So that flyer sounds as good as any other option.

I'm worried Howie will be afraid to leave the position to chance and will have a little too much Goedert loyalty and will give him pretty good money matching his best offer from other teams....which will cost them one of their young defensive players.

Frankly if Dallas loses tonight and we win next week we clinch a playoff spot. Really pulling for that. In all likelihood we are likely the 3 seed. To get the 2 seed we’d basically need to win out. Then have the packers beat the bears and lose another game. Or bears beat the packers and lose their other two games.

Pretty happy if we look competent on offense two weeks in a row and clinch the division in week 16. Use week 17 in Buffalo to just get things straightened out then rest guys week 18

Whats up with Pickens wearing the face covering every game, I mean traditionally guys where those in cold weather game but theyre in a dome and last week pickens was wearing it in a dome as well, somebody tell him hes not an ICE agent or a bank robber, no need to wear the mask bro...

Dallas is another good example of talent.

They are not the same 32 32 defense 3-5-1 team with wins over the NY teams and Commies.

They made a trade for an awesome DT and a decent LB.

They got Bland back on the field so they could cut the Sydney Brown bad level Elam.

They also found a good WR3 in Flournoy.

If the Eagles screw up on 4 or 5 plays (they did) and the refs put their thumb on the scale 4 or 5 times then Dallas comes back from 21-0

I don't think they are playoff level talent now but they are no longer a complete joke.

Being an announcer should be like being a player. When you lose it you get cut.

Agreed on WR. I don't want to make this about Hurts, but I also think our passing offense doesn't maximize the investment or productivity potential of 2 high end WRs. Combine that with my persistent lack of trust in them drafting WRs...and that a young 1st or 2nd round WR could easily disappear in this rudimentary route tree and passing offense...and I'm just not excited to draft that position.

Stacking up on OL? I expect them to get return on their investment there.

As an aside for WR...I'm not sure how much they even developed Smith. He came here developed. He had some of the best route running and feel for different coverages of any WR in NCAA history. Sure, if he sucked, I'd blame them for it. And they deserve credit for trading up and getting him. But still, he was a fairly unique and safe prospect and I'm not sure he is evidence that they have an eye for finding, developing, and integrating WRs into this offense.

Okonkwo has been apparently pretty bad as a blocker this year. I thought he was getting better over the last couple years. But that was just basically some stuff I’ve read on the Titans message board on him. So I guess that’s not true. I still think he’s worth a flyer if he comes and you can maximize his talent.

Frankly i kind of think Howie is going to draft a TE relatively high. I think he was down to fannin and Mukuba in the 2nd last year.

I think he got poked in the eye maybe?

tyler smith down

Howie likes to settle into a rhythm with what works. I think he sees value for TE in round 2 and they've had success in that range with Ertz and Goedert. I think round 3 is the sweet spot in this draft. Eli Stowers is kind of a fun prospect. Converted QB with huge length and athleticism...apparently took blocking and bulking up seriously. But apparently WR quality on vertical routes and with tracking the football. Might pair nicely with a blocking-forward TE.

Fannin brings nothing as a blocker. Talented pass catcher though. I'd just bring Goedert back again and draft someone day 3. O-line needs massive attention, wouldn't even be mad with back to back o-lineman in the first two rounds. Could still add to the d-line and secondary too.

Yeah, I kind of think he’s gonna stick somewhere between the second and the third round at tight end.

I think another scenario that needs to be talked about that’s coming down the pike is if they extend Phillips then it’s very likely hunt or smith is not here long-term. I cannot see them paying Phillips, hunt and Nolan Smith. I tend to believe they probably would go hunt and look to deal Smith who has a fifth year option so he has an extra year so you could probably get some value for him. I’m not saying I want to do that but if they signed Phillips, I just don’t see any way they sign all three of those guys to contracts going forward. You can’t pay everybody.

We DO NOT need to invest at WR next year, for exactly the reason that you mentioned in the first two lines. This is a 'line first' roster. Build the lines and everything keys off that. Lane Johnson DESPERATELY needs to have his replacement added. Frankly, our RG isn't what I'd like it to be, and we should look to add some more pieces to the defensive front as well... OL and DL are much bigger cogs to our success than WR. This team can get by with different WRs. Having two studs at WR like we currently have with Smith and Brown is a luxury and one that often times costs teams from being able to protect their QB. We don't need that, we need competence at WR and excellence along the OL. Having an OC that had a clue about route concepts would be nice too. But, as the Hurts contract becomes more expensive, the OL becomes ever more important. We can't have All-Pros at every position, but at key positions. The OL is where I think you get the most value for your dollar spent.

hopefully vikings pull this one out.i'm out
