EMB Blog: 2025 Regular Season (Part 2) ... and Playoffs

Its amazing what a 17 game season will do to inflate stats. 1000 yards is an average of just over 58 yards per game. Nothing to write home about with that anymore. 1200-1400 should be the mark these days, but its not a round number...

I think the idea is to have FOUR 1000 yard performers plus a TE in double digit TD’s isn’t bad for a supposed "down year” on offense.

It’s kinda crazy to me that Eagles let interns wear #99 during practice but god forbid a player wears 87 or 25 during training camp.

Retiring numbers is stupid. Also - I absolutely do not like how players can just wear any number now. Seeing 17 at LB is nauseating.

I like the number 1 for your best WR or CB but everything else should have stayed the same. Single digits should be reserved for QB K and P

I love the way silly narratives are spun. We know in the past a certain position coach has had his input on the red zone offense, while a different coach would have his input on 2 minute offense, and another coach would have his input on 3rd downs, and another one would have his input on the scripted plays to begin a game, etc.

And we have seen plays that the team has copied from other teams before.

Now that someone suggested Loeffler should become the play caller, they notice a play that Bowling Green ran and assume he is taking control.

It happens to be a shovel pass, which we were running a bunch of early in the season while Patullo had the most efficient red zone offense in the league.

Short memories, selective memories, whatever it may be, its just silly.

I'm pretty sure the Eagles have run a shovel pass prior to this year under Sirianni. Maybe I'm wrong.

Let's even say, you can take away credit from patullo for the early season red zone success and say Loeffler was in charge of red zone offense.

That still indicates that there is no new outside input. It's just Loeffler calling his shovel passes like he has all year.

Very early in the season they ran that same play to Goedert for a TD. VERY early.

Yeah the Goedert shovel pass scored TDs early in the season. The red zone was one of the things that worked for the offense early on.

That's the thing, 1000 yards isn't really a bar for being good anymore with 17 games. Add on that this offense is being paid way too much to be "not bad" and it is a down year

75 yards. That's some crazy ish. I don't give a F who the other team is. 75 yards.

Am I high (yes), but didn't they run it 2x early in the season, both for scores?

What are you seeing with Dickerson and Jurgens the last couple of games? Is there improvement from earlier in the year or is our rushing game showing some improvement (just some) due more to varying formations and scheme rather than improved blocking from those two?

And 62.5 yards per game with a 16 game season. Less than 4 yards per game difference with a 17 games season. But I guess it's more fun to discredit our own players

Seems like a big fine would be coming

Go ahead, waste the next hour of your life.

There has to be a hundred different scenarios that could play out between all the NFC North and West teams.

OK, so if I did it right.

Eagles win out.

Week 16: Seattle over LAR, GB over Chicago

Week 17: ATL over LAR, Balt over GB, Chicago over SF, Carolina over Seattle

Week 18: SF over Seattle

Eagles get 1 seed.

-or-

Week 16: LAR over Seattle, GB over Chicago

Week 17: ATL over LAR, Chicago over SF

Week 18: AZ over LAR, SF over Seattle

Eagles have to handle business, but Week 17 is huge.

It's only 1 extra game, it's not like they added multiple games to the season.

Waaaay too much time on your hands.........I say, win this week, see what happens with the other teams. IF you have a clear easy path to potentially getting the #2 seed....you go for it against Buffalo. If it is a scenario like you have above...f that. You sit back, take the #3 seed, sit everyone and their mothers and give this team a 3 week rest to get right/healthy. Parsons, ACL. Mahomes ACL. All last week. Nope....I think health is the greatest factor for the Eagles succeeding this year in the playoffs....ESPECIALLY ALONG THE O-LINE. But imagine you play Dean, Baun, Davis, Coop, Etc in that Week 18 game hoping all the rest of that other stuff happens and 1 or 2 of them get badly injured? If the Eagles can get healthy....there isn't a team in the NFL right now that would scare me. But if you go all out, beat your players into the turf even more....and still end up in the 3 seed I can see 1 and done or even worse.

Just saw this so I'm adding it : Article explaining what needs to happen

Ehh, took all of 5 minutes. The Eagles have to handle business first and foremost. Hate to say it, but best case scenario might be for the 1 seed to be out of reach after this week. Take the pressure off the last 2 weeks of the season, let the Eagles rest up some players (especially on the OL) and get some young guys some PT. I'd love homefield for the playoffs, but relying on 6-7 games (no one say it!) to determine their fate seems a bit far fetched.

Exactly....I think/believe HEALTH will be the biggest factor to them succeeding in the playoffs.....not the #1 or #2 seed. That and potential matchups/luck/refs (which they can't control). Control what you can which is resting and protecting your key players from injury. They did it with Barkley last year with a chance at the all time rushing record. Don't play Russian Roulette on a ridiculous long shot of #1 or #2 seed. That's like racking up $100,000k in credit card debt and saying I'm not worried...I'm planning on winning the lottery lol

Could have swore they ran it last year too sometimes. Maybe even other years.
