They had 28 yards in the first half against the rams and managed to also win that game.

Sometimes a great D can take a team to a title. It looks like we may have just such a D. We've witnessed 16 games now over 17 weeks and we know who this team is and who they are not. It is too late to change anything of significance. We are who we are.

Time to ride this formula as far as it can take us. Run the ball and don't turn it over. Turn the game into a total grind and let the Georgia boyz eat. It is enough to get another ring and the O will have a couple of good halves along the way to help ease the burden on the D.

It worked for the 2000 Ravens. I'm not sure our defense is as good as that defense... then again, I think our offense is a little better than that offense, but only a little.

Just rest the starters and beat WAS with the backups.

They didn’t give Carter a sack for that Allen give up play.

Biggest IQ play? I guess you’re not talking about Cameron Latu deciding to touch a ball that was resting on the one yard line and then put his foot in the end zone.

No but Coop shoving the guy then going for the ball was smart

Jealous of the niners offense. Player for player apart from Kittle and Williams and maybe 1 or two others, who is a better player compared to the Eagles. Fools just punted the first time in Dec. Coaching and playcalling matters so much.

Siri has had an average offense his whole tenure. Enormous talent, small brain in charge

Yeah, I think we are a good bit better on O than that Ravens team. We won't be great at any point but I think we will be more effective with Lane in there and especially because it lets us bring in Fred and go heavy in a way that will work. It is enough.

They might be... but for long stretches, they don't play like it. IIRC, that team went 9 straight weeks without scoring an offensive TD in that season.

play the starters with a td

SF is so beautiful if you get a chance to go views for days and great architecture

I’d actually argue the ravens offense was better at running the ball as they could run with Jamaal Lewis as they were coming down the stretch. Postseason numbers weren’t pretty but last 8 games of 2000 he had 927 yards (4.6 yards per carry) and 5 tds. Also averaged 116 yards per game as the season came to an end in the second half. Barkley has 621 (4.1 yards per carry) and 3tds and avg 78 rushing yards per game over the last 8

I would play the starters next week if Chicago loses tonight. You can make a good argument for sitting, but a second round matchup against the Bears in Philly vs. Chicago is a big difference to me.

Is Mariota able to play? If it's Josh Johnson, hopefully we have it settled after the first half or so.

Either way, it is what it is. It's time to play football. They'll have the next 7 months to rest. I don't think one week off will make a big difference for the the OL who have been struggling all year with or without rest. They're going to be beat up regardless. Carter had his shots or whatever, he's as ready to go as he can be.

That is a heck of a throw!

They've averaged 9th in points and 11th in yards, including this season. In his first four years they were 7th and 8th, respectively.

Both defenses suck.

What did we learn today?

On defense: nothing. We knew what the defense was. All they did was get hung out to dry and play too many snaps and get a few bumps and bruises.

On offense: we learned that the Raiders/Commanders games were a mirage. The offense will continue to suck and is going to be a noose around their neck that tightens with each game. QB play will be bad. OL never got their chance to get healthy and will not be blowing open holes on the ground. And the mirage of progress on offense with more appropriate route concepts and a rejuvenated passing game were entirely a product of playing teams more concerned with draft position than with stopping an offense. Sure, bad weather in Buffalo and the Bills only scored 2 and blah blah blah....0 completions in the second half and their only TD of the day came off a half field thanks to a turnover with almost all the yards coming off a floating duck pass that they were lucky AJ came down with.

This will be the worst offense in the NFL playoffs. You can't win with that.

Their QB was Trent Dilfer.

At any point during his tenure would you say we were a dominant group? I can’t think of a season. Maybe the year we lost to the chiefs?? Maybe??

Youre right until your last sentence.

They beat not just a playoff team today, but a super bowl contender.

The D will make any game winnable.

A super bowl isnt exceedingly likely this year like it felt last year. But its certainly possible for this defense to carry us to another one considering the rest of the league is so weak and wide open.

Didn’t say their passing offense was better. However they could run the ball even with dilfer at Qb

Yup. 2022. They were 3rd in points and yards.

Barkley average 3.6 yards per carry as the Bills dared the Eagles to throw the ball all evening. What were the coaches supposed to do? Run more? Hurts was floating wobbly ducks all night. Bad weather, defense sitting on the run, and the QB can't throw it around sparse coverage. I'm not sure what else they are supposed to do.

To be more specific, they can win any individual game with this defense. With this offense, they will never string together wins in the playoffs.
