Why is everyone afraid of the 49ers coming here?

Because our offense can’t score

Because they are playing really well the past 7 weeks, losing only to the #1 seed in the NFC. And if you watched them over that period, you would see that they pass the eye test big time.

I know they are good but I’m not scared, I’d rather play them than the Rams or Bears

McKee just one of many who magically sucks the moment Patullo is calling the offense

If the goal was to rest our players then that’s the right call. I rather had Cooper and Covey getting targets than running Tank 20 times for no reason. We need him for 2 carries in the post-season.

It was working and winning today got you the 2 seed. Sounds like reason enough for me.

They aren't. Just fulfilling their responsibility to dole out warranted criticism.

Good news: the Eagles get the #4 pick in the 3rd round.

One thing I'm taking away from this game is an appreciation for Adore Jackson. Oof. The options behind him are bleak!

Nice!!

I really, really don't want to go to Seattle if we can avoid it. It's not even a fear of the team, but for whatever reason we just can't play a full four-quarter game there.

Backups are Backups for reason

One thing for certain that McKee's performance proved today: No matter who the QB is, there will be some people with extremist opinions that don't take all the realistic factors into account. There are always extreme homers and haters around the different QBs.

The reality is there was some good, there was some bad, he was playing with mostly backups in a game the HC didn't really care about winning. He made some bad decisions and should play better having been on the team for two years. He also made some nice throws and showed poise at times. He wasn't able to scramble and make plays with his legs, especially on a play were he could have simply fallen down into a 1st down with 1 yard to go. I still would be hopeful if he had to step in for an injured Hurts, but his stock has definitely gone way down after today.

The coaching on offense is bad, they are unprepared every week and that makes it even harder for a backup in this situation. The playoffs depend on Nick and KP prep and coaching on offense. The defense is playing championship ball. The offensive roster is good enough, Hurts is good enough. It's coaching.

Here's what I said three weeks ago (bolding added):

I'll stick by that. The 49ers are going to blow them out next week ... whereas if they had played the starters, they would have likely made at least the NFC championship game.

In what world does SF blow this team out? Their offense blows, it's CMC, kittle and who? Led by the most average dude on earth in purdy. Their defense isn't as good as it used to be either.

Does a team that can’t win 1 game in 2 tries at soldier field against these Bears deserve to win the SB?

If your answer is no, then the 2 seed definitely does not matter.

Where do we?

At least we have that going for us. Maybe we can trade that for an awesome player like Jahan Dotson!

I guess the positive is that our backups nearly won a game against one of the worst teams in the NFL. But I'm not feeling optimistic right now.

Disagree. The moment the decision was made to sit the starters, the offensive staff should have done their jobs to prepare McKee and company for an opponent that is at best on par with your backups. No long sustained drives, how many times did Russ T mention that receivers aren’t close to getting open, once again no play design. Call it what you want, this team desperately needs a coordinator change. Sure we shot ourselves, especially the Cooper taunting but we relied on big plays to move the chains, this offensive approach is so arrogant and delusional

I don’t disagree that the eagles need a coaching change at OC. Their offensive scheme has always been we have more talent than you and we will eventually wear you out. It’s been an issue for this team at times. Particularly this year and end of 2023 when guys were banged up so evened the playing field in terms of talent (brown out and hurts banged up)

However, they also didn’t lose because the offense was bad. Their defense particularly the secondary could not cover anybody. The eagles got burned with penalties repeatedly because their corners (which means roster construction) behind your starters are abysmal. They’re not even bad. they’re abysmal. Like there’s three guys that we’re playing today that probably shouldn’t be on an NFL roster unless they’re just special teams. Bennett has been injured and bad since he got here. Ringo has regressed and got beat out by adoree who is average and end of his career. And brown has been bad last 2 years at safety. Bad enough after 1 game he was replaced with Epps coming off an injury.

That said this decision to rest was never all on Nick. Don’t believe for a second. roseman who’s been here the longest and lurie aren’t having a group think about what they see is best for the team and going forward. It was the same when doug was here and they pulled guys in 2020 in week 17. That wasn’t all a Doug decision. It was reported later it wasn’t.

Better shot here than anywhere else

But we'll always have last year

Would a home game against Chicago be more or less favorable? Would a home game against Green Bay be more or less favorable than San Francisco?

On McKee, I've tried to say the sample was small but some insisted on overvaluing it. My contention is the sample is still small. I'm not burying him. He played with backups today albeit against a bad team. And honestly if he had a good game that wouldn't have proved anything either. We've seen QBs have entire good first seasons only to fade after. In any case Patullo sucks

Howie sucks.

Siri sucks.

They are quitters.

It’s just some tortured logic of trying to pretend that giving away the 2 seed doesn’t matter.
