Add backup CBs to the offseason shopping list.

I was thinking about this earlier. Across the board depth isn’t great besides LB (who would have thought).

Is this the first time in the history of the NFL a team has gone a whole season without intercepting a single pass. I mean thats a wild stat, one would think youd get at least one through sheer dumb luck.

With the highest paid O in the league and pennies being spent on the D comparatively…kind of hard to keep and maintain depth.

Which is an argument for rest. If Mitchell got hurt today then you might as well forfeit the playoffs.

Morris out in Atlanta.

Just about everyone complaining about resting the starters right now lol. Pretty much everyone was pro-rest. I was one of few who absolutely wanted to play the starters. So I'm on the same page there. Giving up the 2 seed like that is crazy to me. Think of all the little things that Howie and the Eagles do to put us in position to succeed in January. But now when it comes to potentially playing a home vs away divisional round game, we're just giving it away for a little rest? Crazy.

But there are a bunch of people in here and on twitter who are freaking out now that the Bears lost. They scoffed at the idea of playing the starters a day ago.

I kind of figured they were gonna rest guys. Since 2023 when AJ Brown hurt his knee against the giants in week 18 going into the playoffs playing in a game that was basically meaningless and they sat some and played others and got burned.

Imo I love smith but I wouldn’t have let him go out there and get 1000 yards. it only takes one or two plays for him to get hurt. And then he still doesn’t get 1000 yards and now you’re down here for the rest of the postseason. If you’re committed to not playing your starters then guys like stern, Jordan Davis, hunt should not be out there for the amount of plays you were playing them today. I said this back in 2023 and it just so happened AJ Brown got hurt, you’re either all in and everybody’s playing or you’re all out where none of our starters are gonna play. This half in and half out is BS. Stick to your guns if you’re gonna make a statement that you’re resting starters then Jordan Davis, hunt, Smith do not play.

To add to this, Jordan Davis just played the most snaps in his NFL career this year. So you’re telling me he couldn’t have used the week off? Yeah penalty should’ve and could’ve used it. Again this goes back to my 2023 argument before that Giants game. You’re either all in on playing everyone of your starters or every one of them sits and you accept the fate of an L and running Your backups into the ground.

Except he didn't help - because you know, decisions, decisions.

Deserves it. They won the last 4 but that was fools gold like the eagles in 2011.

Yup and Toth has been better than jurgens when playing for him and probably better than dickerson whose also been horrible.

Both jurgens and dickerson should have been benched months ago, one week of rest isnt going to fix them

The other logic for resting guys today was erring on the side of caution of potentially getting the Saturday playoff game and playing on a short week for the sixth time this season. I still think it was the right decision.

We’ve been fortunate the 3 of the last 4 years to have like 21 of 22 starters healthy going into the playoffs.

Not sure that's a smart move.

Shanny’s weakness is he’s too smart for his own good. He’s schizo with his play calling, it’s all over. When it works it works…but he’s like the anti bizarro patullo. Instead of a tiny playbook with bad sequencing and design, he’s got 36 binders with bad sequencing.

I agree...He sure looked pretty predictable last night. The DL pressure wouldn't let his trademark intermediate routes in the middle of the field time to open up. The DL were so disciplined in gap responsibility took away almost all of Purdy's scrambles. The screens were easily read as were the short passing game to the flats. The back 7 of the D was bringing the receivers and CMC and Kittle down immediately. They are really lacking a #1 receiver and it showed...Shanahan just ran of options against the D. The fun part was that this game was so consequential that the Niners showed all their best stuff which gives Fangio plenty of film to scheme against. The Eagles D are totally capable of repeating all of that... I think they have more talent at all levels that Seattle, can execute as well and can tackle in the open field as well.

Let’s just all agree that Patullo is the biggest problem.

Some of you are mad that Nick isn’t helping O more but I just don’t view that as his job and I’m ok with that.

Patullo is 100% an extension of Nick. Nick is protecting him.

Patullo on 20 other teams would have been fired in November.

The Falcons won 8 games. How many did the owner think they'd win?

That wasn’t the problem. The play calling was. They cost them the game and the 2 seed

Coaching was the least of falcons problems, unless he had a huge say in drafting Penix after giving cousins the bag and making him a backup

For those blaming Sirianni for sitting the starters, there’s no way he made this choice himself. This was as organizational thing. And it was potentially a disastrous one.

For how many people complained about starters against Bills, it’s a small group who should be allowed to blame Sirianni.

With that said, you aren’t wrong, but it was still kinda weird overall to put Smith out there just to get 1k yards and play Jordan Davis and Graham well into the 4th. It seemed the plan was pretty haphazard all around they thought playing some would result in a win.
